no one can possibly have the winner of this race lol. it's like 10 clones of the same horse
Giant Oak Nation will surely be out in full force Friday at Churchill!![]()
Well there's lots of smart ideas in books I've never read, when the girls come talk to me I wish to hell I had
Eldaafer!!! I've met his mama on several occasions so I've got to root for her baby!
Thank you, Ty!
I was watching one of the two year-old sales online and picked out Prince Will I Am because of Victory Gallop and I love the chrome on him. I'm beyond thrilled he's in the BC and he's my biggest root-for of the weekend!
It's been a strange year for him. I had in in my Derby Dozen off a nice losing 2nd, but then he pretty much flopped after that. Last out, he gets a VERY soft Grade 1 field, he wins and now he's in a BC race! Now he gets about a soft of a race as you could hope for on BC day. Somebody up there (or out there) likes this Prince.
A.U. Miner...Borel up (2 wins on the horse showing in the form), should get a relatively decent pace setup for the distance, and he likes the track. He finished right alongside of Giant Oak in his last start, as well.
ROMP has a SHOT
This horse has been in my vitual stable since Aug of 2007 (!!?) when I was impressed by his closing kick in a 60k clm at SAR. I've seen him move barns, and come out west, begin to find his niche and continue to improve. Little by little. There's been plenty of money to be made with him by keying him underneath in exotics (for example his 2nd to Bourbon Bay at 50-1).
Kristin Mulhall obviously has the trick with this old boy, as shown by his incredible non-efforts for the two races outside of her care this year. He was running so well earlier in the year they entered him in the Sword Dancer Gr1.
After returning west he's had one race. A 4 horse event in which all three others were 3-1 or less, and he was 12-1. He passed Where's the Remote and Worth Repeating who would both be low prices in this race.
He runs hard virtually every time, and can sit near the pace if it's slow. I strongly believe ROMP will make a run and finish in the top 4, with a decent chance of actually winning.
He'll be 50-1 here.
I looked at the past performances.
Wow, this is a terrible field.
And the fact that they are going 1 3/4 miles rather than 1 1/2 miles makes this race completely incomprehensible, from a handicapping standpoint.
Anyone in here could win. Or finish last.
Oh looks it's an actual f**king marathon that's actually worth some money.

Romp has improved so much since returning to Kristin. He was such a mess when I saw him the weekend of Zen's last race at HP, but has done a complete 180 since then. He's training so so well here at Churchill.
Romp and Kristin have the best relationship. We had so much fun playing dress up with him yesterday after works. Such a personality!
Why is it that even though there are 468 threads bemoaning the fact that US horses are neither bred nor trained to stay, the Euros don't ship over in dozens to scoop this pot?
I wish this thread were more visible--someone put too few asterisks in the title.

I'm going with Atoned. He's going to be a huge price and I need a Repent to win.
