First rule: Try always to do what's right for the horse. The people part will work out. -- Josh Pons, Merryland, 2007
Bummer about Workforce. Wish they were more sporting......
well i would rather see someone take care of their horse than be sporting
How odd since other European trainers are very happy with the turf. Ah well. He sure doesn't look the part ... at least not this week. Maybe there is something else going on and he's just not doing as well as they'd like.
the owners have nothing to gain and everything to lose by running him. the trainer is the one that wanted to run not the owners. I think the owners won out
After Middays run yesterday are you surprised?
I don't see why they even bothered shipping him out, they were so negative on the idea straight after the Arc, knew it was never going to materialise.

Wussies. This group makes the Mosses look sporting
Your don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.....RZ
They've been practically begging for a reason to scratch Workforce for over a week now. I'm not even sure why they took the time and energy to ship him to Kentucky, when it appears evident that they had little interest in competing.
Well there's lots of smart ideas in books I've never read, when the girls come talk to me I wish to hell I had
Absolutely ridiculous. I thought their whining was all show. Are they really just learning that the turf here is more rigid than Europe's? Did they never check weather reports?
Considering the trainer has won the last two runnings of the Turf among other BC races and that the owner kept Bobby Frankel stocked with top notch grass runners, yeah I'd say they know a thing or two about American grass.
Go watch a replay of the King George if you want to see why this horse is not running.
CD screwed the pooch on this one, a little extra water wouldn't have gone astray. Instead they end up with one of the weakest Turf fields ever.
She didn't lose because of the ground. That race was a cavalry charge as I recall seeing it unfold on the big screen. Not as if she lost by a ton. She was narrowly beaten.
Plenty of Euros have lost BC races over the years including some very fancied runners. Maybe they think they are all invincible, but perhaps their expectations are a bit too lofty, eh?
They do things when they come here that are probably okay in Europe, but they don't fly here ... a herd does not cross the dirt track while training is still going on, but they do. They have been told many times not to walk to the rail, cross over to the turf course while there are still horses galloping on the track. They don't care. They actually have to be told a few times before they listen. I think Butch Lehr got it right, unfortunately ... 'they are arrogant'. That extends to some of their media as well. I know they are allowed to walk up to a horse's face after a race to get a good photo, but WE don't allow that kind of behavior, from anyone ... US, Japan, England, France, Brazil .. no one.

Well that's the tone i got from the post i replied to before hand. Just the other way round.
Mr. Lehr, my horse loves the slop. My problem is the track is fast. Could you please have the guys take the water trucks around the track 30 or 40 times to make it sloppy? What do you mean "No"?!?!?!?! Do it!!! I'm ROYALTY!!!!
I think they ought to have run WF anyway. So what, the turf is not to their liking. This would be like bringing Zenyatta over to Dubia and scratching her from the WC just becuase it's run to late or the wind isn't right. Socalled "Sir", run your horse and we'll call you "Sir".
