Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Zigawatt, a full brother to The Cliff's Edge, finished 4th in the 12th race at Turfway today. The winner was much the best, but Zigawatt had a very poor trip.
Lion Lord, a half-brother to 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper, won his career debut here Saturday, getting up in the final strides to best Hombresactlikemens in a seven furlong maiden special weight dash. Lion Lord, a 4-year-old son of Mr. Greeley, is owned by Stronach Stable and trained by Brian Lynch, and was guided to victory by Ghostzapper's regular rider Javier Castellano.
Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Javier is also scheduled to ride Holy Knight for Brian Lynch. Holy Knight is part of the Adena Racing Venture II. I've been following his progress since I saw his photo and videos on their site. He was up at Woodbine for a while before moving down to FL. If he runs half as good as he looks...

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Holy Knight wound up 11th of 13 and didn't show much, although he broke quite poorly. Oh, well. Maybe next time

The horse who did win that race was the Phipps's Vacation, a 1/2 brother to Boca Grande, being out of MGSW Country Hideaway who is, of course, a full sister to BC winner Pleasant Home. So, Vacation hails from a fine family

Also in the same race was Desert Stormer's son He Struck it Rich, by Seeking the Gold. He finished 4th, just a length or so behind the winner. And Calzone, a son of G1 winner Corrazona by A.P. Indy, finished in 12th place.

Viva La Flag was a very close 2nd in the 7th at Gulfstream. Not bad for her US debut. The winner was vanned off, though. Hope she is doing OK.

8th Race

Next Post 5:13 Off: 4:42 | 1 Mile | 4 Year Olds And Up | Allowance | Purse: $42,500

# Horse Jockey Weight Win Place Show
4 Giant Chieftan Prado E S 120 7.60 3.60 3.20
13 Dr. Pleasure Velasquez C 120 3.00 2.40
14 Teide Trujillo E 120 4.40

I can't belive Giant Chieftan won this race. I've used him 2 or 3 times in the On The Nose contest and he's tanked...failed to even see this entry in time to use him today and he finally wins (first win since his MSW 2yo win). At least his odds were pretty low, so I didn't miss out on too much...

I can't remember if it was Wednesday or yesterday but Friar, a half-brother to Pulpit by Arch finished third in a race at Charles Town.

Big Stick, a son of G1 winner Jeanne Jones by Grand Slam, won the 8th at GP today. I loved Jeanne Jones back in the day and I was devastated when she lost the BC Juv. Fillies by a nose to Epitome.

I liked Jeanne Jones too...I think I was a sophomore in high school when she ran in the Juvenile.
Thanks for the update.

Ready Set, a half-brother to grade I winner Composure, is running Sunday in the Fountain of Youth. He races for Michael Matz and Roy and Gretchen Jackson.

Re: Siblings (and offspring) of well-known horses

Composure and Ready Set are full siblings. I always want to say Ready Set is by More Than Ready, but he's by Touch Gold too.

And I knew he was by Touch Gold too. I wonder who I was thinking was the sire of Composure. I'm guess I was thinking A. P. Indy... maybe I was thinking of Santa Catarina.

That's good. Thanks for posting. I did enjoy Sweet Catomine while she was racing. I guess I never added her to my Stablemail because the lunatic owners just repulse me too much But I'm glad to get an update on the filly.
