I think Quality Road's race record is superb. I don't see how one bad race--just because it's his last one--negates that.

    Re: 2011 Stud Fees

if antyhing that last place finish dropped the stud fee.

weren't there predictions of like 75k or something like that?

    Re: 2011 Stud Fees

    QR is $35K.

I'm not that excited about him as a sire. I don't know why, exactly. He obviously has speed and talent. Just doesn't light my fire, I guess.

Article at The Bloodhorse about Lane's End fees. Quality Road will be 35k.

    Edited:
Increases for: Candy Ride, City Zip and Mineshaft
Decreases for: After Market, Aragorn, Langfuhr, Pleasantly Perfect and War Pass
Others, including Indy, remain the same

Like I said, with Quality Road and Blame at the same fee, I still like the prospects of QR better.

Must say I would expect more from the most important sire since AP Indy

    Re: 2011 Stud Fees

In the Times Today's list of Lane's End's 2011 fees, they have "Belmont to Me" instead of "Belong to Me"

I think that Super Saver at 20k is wayyyy too high in my opinion...but I'd guess that's because he's a fluke Derby winner.
Has to do with his deep Phipps family and the success of Bluegrass Cat as a young sire more than just his Derby win.

He's also a nicely made horse with some scope and everyone would love to see a son of Maria's Mon pick up where he left off.
Nobody said giving Kirstie Alley a colonic would be easy.

Agreed. I think that Quality Road is the sounder horse of the two, and his speed is more appealing, at least from a commercial standpoint. Based on pedigrees, well they are plenty different, so depends on what you're looking for.

Wow. Had not ever heard that one.

I would think his fragility would be more of a deterrent.

Yes, because the rest of them are so sound and raced so much more than he did. He wasn't unsound unless you know something the rest of us don't, think his very regular work pattern leading up to races said he was, or really define quarter cracks for one month (unfortunately before the KY Derby so terrible timing with the most notice) as "unsound" in a TB?

His feet looked fine to me last week.

Taylor Made’s new stallion for 2011, grade I winner Eskendereya, will stand for $27,000, payable Nov. 1. Eskendereya's stands and nurses fee will be $30,000 for his introductory season. Other Taylor Made stallions Forestry , Northern Afleet , and Old Fashioned will stand for $11,250, payable Nov. 1, and will have a stands and nurses fee of $12,500.

    Re: 2011 Stud Fees

Boy has Forestry taken a huge dive.

    Re: 2011 Stud Fees

Henney Hughes fee cut in half (12,500 vs 25,000)

Guess that makes sense... I can't think of a single runner by him.

    Re: 2011 Stud Fees

Summer Bird will be $15K. Artie Schiller $10K, Bellamy Road $10K and US Ranger $5K. I heard US Ranger wasn't returning to Pauls Mill, so that's interesting.
