2011 Preakness: Logo Unveiled; Tickets on Sale - but no TV deal

Penn National Gaming and The Maryland Jockey Club have unveiled the 2011 Preakness logo for the 136th running of the $1 million Preakness Stakes (gr. I), the middle leg of the Triple Crown to be run Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Pimlico Race Course.

Tickets for the 2011 Preakness went on sale Monday, Nov. 22, with seating information and ticket reservation forms available at Preakness.com. According to officials, there have been very little discussion about a TV deal for next year.

I like it too. Makes me wonder why a good one can't be churned out for the Kentucky Derby lately.

Are you saying, that the Preakness could possibly not be on NBC or anywhere next year?

True. This blows away the lame KY Derby logo. The Ky Oaks logo is OK, but neither of them are as dynamic as this one for the Preakness.

The more I see the Preakness logo, the more I like it. It shows the spirit of the event, and retains the color theme from many past logos.
I've worked in the advertising business and seen some very good work. This logo will look great printed, screened on apparel and will look great on embroidered items.

This design puts the CD logos to shame. The derby logo looks like a flat horse head with a solid centerline on it. The horseshoe with the rose looks like a toilet bowl. The Oaks logo would serve well as a Trojan condom wrapper.

I LOVE the new Preakness logo My first thought was, "That'd look awesome on a black shirt or sweater..."

It does make one wonder as to why the big ol' Kentucky Derby couldn't get something half as fine. Or the Oaks.

When I first saw the logo, all I could think was "somewhere Chick Lang is smiling." He'd love it.

Interesting. I like it a lot. The colors they used are Lookin At Lucky's silks colors.
