Uncle Sam looked really good today. It is very difficult for a horse to win around two turns first time out. He looked suprisingly professional for a first time starter. Stalked the pace, made his move on the turn and drew away. I will be looking for this one next time out!
I was wondering if you meant he was loaded with "holiday cheer."
:-)

When I saw this thread title, I thought he must have been caught going thru an airport screener with Pegram...
Second race went two seconds faster, though. (1.36 1/5, 1.34 1/5.)
Baffert's future three-year-olds are looking up by the day! Impressive race by Uncle Sam, too!!! Sainai (hope thats spelled right) won first time out last week too! And The Factor. Oh, I'm loving this horse more every day! Awesome Patriot will be stretching out Wednesday in an allowance! Poor Coil though. Hope he didn't "jump ship" too early.
Still, an A++ report from the Baffert stable! Love you Bob, keep the horses held together and keep up the good work!!!!!![]()
You've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, Punk?
Dirty Harry
I do love the damside of this colt for going a route of ground: Pleasant Colony and Hollywood Invitational Turf Handicap winner Erins Isle (also the broodmare sire of Soldier of Fortune).
Can someone give me a list of the 2-year-olds (almost 3!) in Mr. Baffert's stable at present? I know he has a bunch but I'd love to have something all in one place!
And listening to some big out a' town jasper, hearing him tell about horse-race gamblin'.
Not a wholesome trottin' race, no, but a race where they sit down right on a horse!
Like to see some stuck-up jockey boy sittin' on Dan Patch?
Make your blood boil? Well, I should say!
I bet Martin Garcia is keeping track back at home til he gets that visa worked out.
He is going to have to work his way back to #1 rider for Baffert, but it looks like Bob will have plenty to go around.
Mr. B had a list of impressive 2yo colts the length of my arm about the same time last year. He has turnstyles in his shedrow for derby contenders every year. This isn't news.
He also has Awesome Patriot:
Stretchout should suit Awesome Patriot

Here are a couple of pictures from Sam today. The winner's circle pic came out really well, but the paddock shot got messed up a little by the sunlight ...
Live life, don't just exist it!

Bull Creek was one of those who may have been "one and done" after a maiden win, but with D'pendable back on the tab there's hope. I'm looking forward to Da Ruler--Dirty Diana was a very fast filly and her first (?) foal, Del Conte, showed some talent before a wheel came off or something. I also hope Indian Blessing's half (x Shameful) gets back to work.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.
I should add, Royal Gray is an oddity. His sire, Royal Legacy, was a gorgeous horse by Monarchos, bought by the Lewises for $550,000 but never broke his maiden although he placed twice in three tries. I had no idea he was at stud. I wonder who owns this horse and how he got to Baffert--although I haven't noticed him on the SA/HP tabs.
Edit: according to Pedigreequery, Royal Legacy has 5 2008 foals including one minor winner. By the dams' pedigree he must have been standing in California. (Damsires Smokester, General Meeting, Pirates Bounty.)

Yea, Diver52, Royal Gray stuck out to me as well. Baffert trained the sire for the Lewises, as you mentioned, but I was not aware of him being at stud either.
Royal Gray started out working at Los Al (I think) this past summer then he started showing up on the fairplex worktab for Baffert around Aug-Sept. I am usually pretty good at figuring out who owns these horses, however, I am stumped by this one. Anyway, after seeing the horse work maybe the owner thought the horse had enough ability to give the big circuit in California a shot (just guessing) and sent him to Baffert. The horse has not worked in quite some time however.
