    Thumbs down Win Pool Manipulation?

In the 6th today at SA, a $40k win bet was placed on the #4 in the early round of betting. Nearing the gate, that bet was cancelled. Smells Funny.

I'd like to know if the money was returned in one lump sum. A lot of people play the pools and would put more on the favorite simply because he's the favorite.

Though it doesn't sound like there was one 40k bet--that was the total; however, over 20k quickly vanishing is very suspicious.

And let's say that did happen. Is it illegal?

NJ has a rule that cancellations of wagers >$500 have to be made at IRS windows and paperwork is required to show that the cancellation wasn't an attempt to manipulate the odds.

Aren't there a few ADW internet sites that let you cancel bets? Kind of a nice test run? What you could do with odds at CT with a scam like that.
