    A nice colt

Runflatout, a 3-year-old colt by Flatter, out of Slammin' Lil (by Grand Slam) just broke his maiden in the 2nd race at Santa Anita. He dueled with another colt named Tokubetsu and ran the 6 furlongs in 1:07.70.

I read about him last year and he had a couple setbacks, he was supposed to run at Del Mar, then at Oak Tree/Hollywood Park, but he contracted some sort of respiratory illness that scratched him from those races. Owned by West Point Thoroughbreds and trained by John Sadler.

    Re: A nice colt...Runflatout

ironmanjon posted the video of Runflatout's race in another thread. In case someone didn't see it there, here it is. In the age of "Gourmet Dinner," litters of "Kittens" and other uninspiring monikers, Runflatout is a terrific name!

This is indeed a nice colt.

Sadler also has Hout Bay. Must be nice to be John.

He just got him, too. He was trained before by Carla Gaines.
I read that West Point Thoroughbreds moved some horses from Gaines to Sadler.

I think Sadler got all their Cali horses.

I might have seen Carla with him when I was at Hollywood last November. She was walking a good looking 2yo, I thought, to the training track. I wanted to ask about him but I didn't speak up. I thought he stood out and he had unusual eyes. In looking at the other backside videos on the posted link it sure looks like the same colt. Too bad she lost him. She's a very good trainer. And Sadler has enough stars.

I am looking forward to seeing Runflatout stretching out. He looks like the goods.

I read about Runflatout last fall. One of his owners through West Point Thoroughbreds frequently posts on a couple Bloodhorse blogs, and she talked about him and how she was looking forward to his first start.

That turned out to be delayed because he picked up a cough with some sort of stubborn respiratory illness that went, then came back, so that he wound up missing his debut first at Del Mar and later during the Oak Tree meet. I saw some video of him on YouTube and even as a 2-year-old, he looked like a good looking, older colt. He's worked well, so I hoped he'd show his class today and he did.

Besides, could he have a better name for a racehorse?

P.S. You've piqued my curiosity. What was unusual about his eyes?
