When I lived in Australia, I loved being able to go in the pub and have a bet. You could watch thoroughbreds during the day and trotters and dogs at night. Fill out a voucher and make your bet and have a VB...it was great. You could collect right there to a point, but if you had a big big win you had to go to a PUBTAB office. They had a bet called a Mystery Trifecta...like QuickPick in the Lotto...I would do ne for a buck on the dogs now and then...made 700 dollars one night...sure miss Oz.

Capital OTB in NY does a great job with the TV shows, OTB Parlors and Easy Bet Locations. It's half the reason I like it up in the Albany area. It's a market that is ready to explode in California.

Any idea what the Albany shop owners get in the way of a percentage of the handle?

The 2% in California just doesn't seem right for a guy that remodels his bar/restaurant, sure he might get some increased food and beverage sales, but 10 bucks for every $500 handled ain't much, especially when compared to an ADW like TVG that gets for 12% for cyber transactions.

Fun place - BIG Zenyatta photos on the wall, and a nice big banner of Lava Man in the other bar area. Yummy food, and I think a sports bar is the ideal setting for an OTB. Seems like a nice place I would take my friends if I can't make it to the track.

Free admission, free parking - what's not to like?
