    TURKOMAN

I know I am not the only fan of Turkoman on this forum. So I thought I should share my photos of him from last week. He was very mellow, and didn't try to bite me at all. He is getting up there in age for sure, but still he looks good for his age!

He's still at the same place, correct? Didn't the owner of that farm (is it EA Ranch?) die in the last year or so? So the farm has continued on?

Yes he is at EA. The owner of EA died in 2010. FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD- they are getting rid of the horses. Nobody in the family is interested in continuing the buisness. :/

Well, that's really a shame because as I understand it, that was the issue with Turkoman having moved once. He did poorly and a deal was worked out that he'd be able to go back there to stay. I saw him not too long after he'd come "home" and he looked like the moving around had taken its toll. Let's hope he (and maybe a buddy) can stay even if they move the other horses elsewhere.

Thanks for posting the photos. He was terrific going a mile and a quarter; hope he can live out his days on the farm like a champion deserves.

It is EA Ranches in Ramona CA in Southern California. South of LA, closer to San Diego.

    Re: TURKOMAN

I am sure by the time they finally are able to sell the farm Turkoman will have passed.

It will probably be a few years.

IMO EA is the most beautiful farm i have ever seen, and I do not think I could see a more beautiful place!! it is absolutly amazing!! It breaks my heart to see this happen.

I am not over loosing Golden Eagle yet either. I use to love going there after school and just messing around every wednesday. :/

While Golden Eagle is not what it used to be they are still around and actually plan on moving their farm to Del Mar in the next few years. Was told that when I visited them in the summer.

Jeff I think, the son he was so indecisive, sell the farm, keep the farm, sell the mares, keep the mares. They sold all the good mares and sell off the best babies and keep the ones they can't sell. They also don't want to run them as 2YO's. I hope Stormin Fever brings them some nice homebreds so they can stay afloat. Happy General Challenge is there and he looked very happy

It is in San Diego county, yes. Hence closer to San Diego as in the city. I was simply answering a poster's question about where the farm was located.

3 hours!?! you must have gone backwards through Temecula!

To the farms it only takes 1 1/2 hours from del mar with traffic.

Really bad traffic on a Friday and while going up those curvy areas everyone was behind a FEW semi's that couldn't pull off to the side so we went about 10mph for a good 10 minutes until they could pull over but not all of them did...
