Is there any reason why people name horses before putting them in a 2yr old sale? What is the point of naming a horse you plan on selling. Nobody wants to buy a horse with a name.
Derby- 1) Dialed In 2) Washingtons Rules 3) Shackleford
Unless you're supersticious it doesn't matter if it's named or not. Whether you pay the late fee because it's unnamed or the name change fee, it's all the same. If you like the name and keep it, then you save a little bit of money.
FWIW, when I'm deciding whether or not to buy a horse the last thing I take into account is whether or not it's been named and I think most buyers feel that way. We've bought 2 that were already named and in both cases kept the names they came with because they were good.
I defy any one to look at the name of the dam of Hip 42 and tell me their first thought was G-rated. How the hell did the Jockey Club let that one by after the fits they've given the ladies here?

This is reminding me of Imperial Gesture's dam's name: Honor an Offer![]()
Is it just me? The link takes me to the winter mixed catalog as does clicking on the cover of the March sale on the OBS page.
