A twenty-one gun salute for Black Caviar! She did it .... again!

    Re: Black Caviar

It's almost like you want to see her face tougher and see her tough one out, but where are you going to find tougher competition unless you run her around 2 turns and take her out of her element? Even in taking her to Ascot, she won't find tough competition. If only there were a way she could hook up with Frankel, but there is no common ground between the 2 horses like there was between Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta.

Apart from the bottom weight and the promising 3yo Go the Knuckle who has won $237.000 all the rest have won over a quarter of a million in stakes (some a fair bit more).

Yet she treatedthem with contempt - was left to go as hard as she wanted as she cruised away from them in nothing more than a strong working gallop.
It was a striking comparison to see Were Gonna Rock in full flight and being smacked by his jockey, while Luke Nolen sat still as a statue on Black Caviar. She looked as if she was out for a gallop, as rubiton said. I have no doubt if Nolen had urged her BC would have pulled away to win by another length.

Can't wait to see her at Royal Ascot.

Aussie broadcasters are reporting that ticket sales for Diamond Jubiliee Day at Ascot have taken off ever since Nellie's win.

    Re: Black Caviar

It looked lik she cantered throughout and the jockey didnt move BUT she ran a faster time yesterday than two weeks ago and the last 600m was in 34 seconds. Thats make it even more incredible (but explains why no matter how hard they tried to others couldnt get near her)

    Re: Black Caviar

Despite the competition, she's a joy to watch run in and of herself. And for all that we know, she may be the one that makes her competition look helpless. She has never been passed on the lead. And she is always in great position coming out of the gate. Makes me wonder what competition there is out there anywhere in the world? Even though she gets decent size breaks away from the track, she is all business on the track. 21 wins in 21 starts is just amazing, despite the level of her opponents. And you can tell that she loves being on the track.
Some day, she may get seriously pressed, and I'll bet that she still doesn't get passed!

Australia produces the best sprinters in the world and nothing can get near her here. She meets gr 1 performers each racestart and she makes them look second rate. 600m in 34 seconds make it impossible for anythign to get close if she's doing that in front hardheld.

Isn't it amazing how photogenic that the great race horses are? Zenyatta was a ham, too!

    Re: Black Caviar

She has won on an uphill track before - Moonee Valley does actually go uphill towards the finish but you dont realise it til someone points it out and you see it from teh right angle.

However nothing in Australi is similar to that July Cup course if I have the right track where its a huge big uphill run in the last bit where Takeover target got injured inhis last race.

Black caviar is very photogenic - she's one of those horses that doesnt really stand out (compared to say Lonhro or So You Think who just had this presence when they strode around the yard) in real life but always looks good in photos.

    Re: Black Caviar

The fan base that has evolved around Australia’s champion sprinter Black Caviar, who is unbeaten in 21 races, is so enormous that the mare’s run in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23 will be shown live in Federation Square, in Melbourne, where the mare is trained by Peter Moody.

As the race start time of 3.45 here will be well after midnight in Australia, the magnitude of this move and Black Caviar’s popularity can be gauged. Federation Square is the equivalent of London’s Trafalgar Square.

Also Ascot has had hundreds of requests through the Victoria Racing Club for Royal Enclosure badges. Usually it gets a handful.

They just KNOW they're special; they sense they are being seen and photo'd. Havre de Grace is that way too....all the stand-outs seem to just "get it".

I've got June 23rd circled....I so hope Nellie nails it again!

Her plane is either just about to take off, or just has.

Now all the horses at Ascot will have to have a bodysuit. Those look like extra wraps on her legs, over the suit itself. She's so wrapped up it looks odd that her head is bare; she really needs a helmet or something.....lol

Seriously, though, those compression suits make perfect sense for preventing circulatory problems in horses on long flights; 30 hours is a loooong time to stand in a box on a plane. Good luck, Nelly! I have 6/23 circle on my calendar.

    Re: Black Caviar

Well the plane has gone through Singapore and through Sharjah and now on the final leg towards heathrow. They had her in the box with access to the full three berth width rather than three horses tightly packed so there was a little bit of room to move around.

Moody has shipped to England before, I wonder if his other charges were taken care of so well.
I just love the care that Nelly receives.
