That is a long haul-for as good as Lava Man was running in California, he did not ship well, even in the USA.
I tip my hat to Moody and the owners, They're willing to think outside the box. They could survive on the adulation of the Aussies, and they are rabid about their stars, nee Makybe Diva, who, along with Deep Impact, were two of the greatest runners that I ever saw run on television, but are willing to try the greats in the world, Sepoy and Frankel.
If Black Caviar goes to Royal Ascot to try Frankel, I might have to cash in all of my frequent flier miles and buy a top hat and tails![]()
Whoa! From Twitter: "Martin Talty, manager of the @DRC_Meydan told Paris Turf: "Black Caviar is the best sprinter in the world of the past 20 years."" (Mind you, the folks at Meydan really, really, really want Nelly to run there.;-))

Comparing horses from different eras is difficult, but Nelly is clearly special. I'd love to see her in person, much like I wanted to see Lost in the Fog run.
She is an Australian hero, and her connections are good people and are enjoying the horse that they have and truly care for Nelly.
TVG will broadcast the Australia stakes next Thursday night/Friday morning.

At the Races UK went Down Under to do a ~35-minute feature on Nelly, her connections and Pete Moody: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5JEY...ure=digest_thu

Thanks for posting that; Peter seems like a real down to earth, likable person. Really like his views on racing.

One of the nicest blokes you will ever meet. There are no airs 'n' graces about him. He is who he is, the boy from the bush and he lets his horses talk.
Something that cannot be said for the majority of trainers anywhere in the world.
"You can debate it until the cows come home, but a New-Mexico bred mare has just done the improbable," Track announcer concerning Pepper's Pride breaking the 16-win streak record.
Can someone give me the definitive post time for this race? They keep saying Friday night in Melbourne time, but this tells me nothing about the conversion.
Black Caviar post-time is Friday morning 4:15am ET/1:15am PT.

I sure hope she wins. Roger Federer, one of my human sports heros, got beat this week; I'm kind of bummed about that. If Nellie gets beat I will be really sad. As long as she comes out healthy and sound though, that's what matters.

She is an amazing mare and after tonight it's going to be a fun 2012!
Can't believe I've now been present to see two horses go 17 from 17She certainly did it easier than Silent Witness though. Her races are over at the home turn - she is scary! The entire grandstand were on their feet applauding with a furlong to go. Amazing
