Thread: Black Caviar

    Re: Black Caviar

If they want them to meet fair and square, it has to be done fairly and at a distance respectable for BOTH horses. 7f and in Asia, NOT in Europe.

Love how they are trying to get Black Caviar to run out a MILE in ENGLAND, on the home turf of Frankel.

The only fair places to meet evenly are Singapore, Hong Kong or Dubai.

    Re: Black Caviar

I just think those two should never meet up. I don't see the point of it. Black Caviar is a sprinter and Frankel is a miler and beyond, and whilst he was a nice sprinter at 2, he grew stamina so it's unfair to ask him to go back to a shorter distance again. The same goes for Black Caviar, it would be unfair to make her stretch out even more. Besides, I doubt either connections would ship to Singapore, Hong Kong or Dubai just to take on each other. Black Caviar's connections have already said that they are targeting Royal Ascot in England so that is the only reason why it would make sense to race in England but I just still don't see it happening. The only way I see these two meeting up is in the barns at Ascot Racetrack before their respective races, or in the breeding shed with the latter much less likely. I'm sure their connections will make the right choice for their horses, not for our entertainment, just like the connections of Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra made the correct decisions for their horses and not for money or us. Remember what happened when Ruffian's connections fell into the public's pressure? We wouldn't want that to happen again.

    Re: Black Caviar

Ah, thanks sg, I wondered what she brought and haven't had time to check. According to Rick Jamieson, the owner and breeder (and breeder of BC), this Redoute's Choice filly would probably be the last and only time a sibling (half or otherwise) of BC's would be offered at sale.

She's a gorgeous filly....here's hoping she shows even some of talent that Nellie has shown.

Shares available in BC's little sis if your pockets are deep enough! Her breeder is adamant that he won't sell another from this dam.

Post time for the Robert Sangster Stakes is at 3:43 pm Saturday in Adelaide, South Australia. Would that convert to an EDT post time of Friday at 11:13 p.m.?

Edit: Looking at rubiton's post above, my estimate is totally wrong.

    Re: Black Caviar

I was checking the program for BC's race on australianracing.com, and they have her race at 2:23 Eastern time, so it would be around 11:23 pm here Pacific time. Morphetteville (hope I spelled that correctly) is the C track that night. Rather amusing - the program on the australianracing.com site has her morning line odds as 50-1; no doubt a typo. A lot of the horses in the 10-horse field are 50-1 with the lowest (presumedly correct) odds going to Lone Rock at 12-1.
Searching is half the fun. Life is much more manageable when it is thought of as a scavenger hunt as opposed to a surprise party.

    Re: Black Caviar

Yes Lone Rock was a Gr 1 winner over the course and distance last year. Just Sybil is way over the odds - gutsy in form local mare who shouldnt get near BC but might get a place.

Along with the headcollar. Nellie's headcollar is blue. Would say the picture is more about Luke Nolen and what awaits him worldwide than the horse.

Not sure if DRF is streaming it. It could be because I tried two different browsers and DRF.com wouldn't load. It said the server was busy.

You can catch the race on Australianracing.com at this link:

    DRF is working though: http://www.drf.com/events/australian-racing-live-stream

Watching their stream like I have so many others of Nelly's starts.

ETA: She just showed up in the paddock, she looks good.
