I liked this so much, I found a much larger version. The cabby's name is Paul Gardiner, and I'm guessing he'll pick up some extra fares.

    Re: Black Caviar

Thats fantastic to see to be in Horse and Hound!!

Now apparently she's draw the outside of a field of 15 (15 geez some must have believed that stuff about trying to get a line on her through of all horses Ortensia) and apparently that means starting on the outside rail.

Is that good? Is there anything close that might try to go forward and try to block her in on the rail out there? Do they load them in barrier no order?

Youd assume the plan is to jump go forward so she has a clear run and then go for home when its time.

Black Caviar won by a head over the filly!!

    Yahoo!!

    http://www.paulickreport.com/news/th...lee-by-a-head/

    >Black Caviar kept her perfect record intact with a desperate short-head victory over Moonlight Cloud in the $775,000 Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot June 23.

It appeared that jockey Luke Nolen misjudged the finish wire and stopped riding, which allowed Moonlight Cloud, a group I winning filly in her own right, to almost nail the Australian champion on the wire.

Restiadargent was third, another neck back. More to follow.....>

ETA: About the filly that took 3rd ... from Sporting Life

    >Fellow French trainer Henri-Alex Pantall was also thrilled with the effort of the unheralded Restiadargent,in third.
He said: "I am so happy with this filly because I would have settled for coming fourth or fifth, so this is a bonus. She is still very green and was a three-year-old against older horses, which makes the run even more commendable.
"She is only a baby, but I would not be frightened of taking on Moonlight Cloud again in the Maurice de Gheest."<

    Re: Black Caviar

Peter Moody quoted that Black Caviar may have not been 100% during the race and decisions need to be made when they get back to Australia. From TVG.

Glad she won! And hope nothing is wrong with her..

    Re: Black Caviar

they have said in the past that she tends to get little problems that just need rest such as pulled muscles, so i am hoping if there is something wrong it's that sort of thing

    Re: Black Caviar

forget the conjecturse surrounding the finish, the record books will show that she won, and thats all anything needs to do in a competition
human greed and selfishness may have demanded that she win by panels, but commonsense makes one appreciate what peter moody said about winning margins etc
first time in a race with the going like it was on the other side of the world with her whole system gearing up for an aussie winter
unlike when our spring carnival is on when overseas visitors come from nh climes into similar daylight lengths
david raphael actually said during one of his commentaries, either before or after that she seemed to him that she may have been in season, which could have been the case with her thinking the increased daylight hours may have been an early spring for her anyway whatever she won and it was a good win (have a look at the sectional she ran 10.85,frankel, on his "home" going and tracks ran 1mph faster)

    Re: Black Caviar

Apparently she torn a few muscles and a few other issues so that would explain why she stopped so quickly and looked so awful in her action straight after the race.

Hopefully once she gets back in July with treatment and a spell she can return in the late spring and autumn to continue on her winning way. If she is sound there is no reason to retire yet - Sunline, Kingston Town and Makybe Diva all scored some of their most memorable wins as 6yos.
