Let me just say congrats to Laurie, Jess and all involved. Just watching her on the cam this morning, she seems like quite the pistol. Those legs go on forever. She does look like a chestnut to me, but hard to tell on the cam.![]()

Turn on the cam this morning when I get up and what do I see, an adorable baby. Good job Jess and Laurie! Gorgeous white blaze -- where did all that bling come from? Jess is blocking the camera now so I guess I'll read through the rest of the thread and see how the birth went.
Reading back through the thread and seeing the pictures of Redwine, now I know were the bling came from. Juliet can't help but be gorgeous with Redwine and Jess for parents!

It's intense. Just remember it all turned out okay!

Does Jess look likes she's still a bit crampy? She's holding one of her back legs up towards her belly and her ears are back. It was a hard birth for her.

She looks very agitated.
She seems to have settled down now. I guess it is to be expected for her to be a bit sore after what she went through last night.

I'm so glad to see this baby filly alert and active this morning. What a beauty. Hopefully Jess will feel better as the day goes by, maybe she can get some rest. You can tell she's still uncomfortable. She sure is a good mother inspite of everything. Congrats to you Laurie and thank you for sharing the experience!
Things didn't get a whole lot easier after Jess foaled and the filly was revived. Jess would not calm down. She was acting like she was still in labor and was making Juliet run in circles. Banamine did not seem to help so I called the vet back. We had called him earlier and told him what happened but that things were ok then and made an appt for late this morning. When I called the second time he did not call back. I do have another practice I could have called but went looking through the BO's medicine cabinet and found some xylazine. I gave it to her while she was lying down and she rested for the first time in weeks. She was up about 20 minutes later and while still somewhat agitated was much better.
As far as Juliet goes she was fine in all respects except she would not lie down. Jess was stall walking and chasing the baby to exhaustion so I had to go in there after she nursed each time and more or less knock her down. She has laid down a few times on her own this morning.
The vet is coming sometime this morning I hope to check them both out.
I'm sure all will be fine, Laurie. She seems much more settled now, from at least what I can see(she's in that blind spot again!). I even caught a glimpse of both momma and baby laying down before. Juliet was stretched out across the stall with her legs, it's incredible to think that she came from Jess being as big as she is, runway models would kill for legs like that![]()

Jess and Juliet passed their vet exam with flying colors for the most part. Juliet has a contracture on her left hind ankle that the vet suspects will correct itself and a two finger hernia he thinks will fix itself. Jess has a little tear which is to be expected after that ordeal but is ok otherwise.

She's absolutely lovely! I'm so glad everything worked out. Congrats!

V., here's a link to her FB page. She mentions it's a light bay and thinks it will fade out to dark bay.
All I know is I witnessed a miracle last night. That foal is Lazarus and Laurie asked her to rise...absolutely remarkable.
Laurie - this filly has a blaze very similar to our Allou/Toccet filly from several years ago, ("Slew's Night Moves"). One good thing about a baby with that kind of blaze - you can find them in the field in the dark, they shine like the moon! She's lovely. Congrats!

I just watched the video, it was intense, glad to see that everything worked out well. I watched the video of her and mom running around in the arena, what a little cutie pie. Watched some of video a little while ago and she was nursing a little bit to hard as jess was giving her some well meaningful nips on the hind leg which baby was not liking. Lol.
