Thread: Nap Time for Mom

    Re: Nap Time for Mom

Conwiss had a real problem this year. She had a strep infection of the uterus and she wasn't getting pregnant so I brought her home and I had to send her to my verterinarian's place for treatment. She came into season almost right away so I sent her to During. Last Sunday we found out she was pregnant with twins so the vet eliminated one of the embryos. During was a sprinter so his offspring should be well suited to Charles Town's small track and shorter races.

Behooved has reached a new milestone when I measured her today; she is now exactly 16 hands. Her growing has slowed lately and the swelling in her knee has gone down significantly. She has very nice thick bone and has kind of a Dynaformer look to her.

    Good luck with the mare.

Ephiphysitis pretty much takes it time but we found that mudding the knees helped some. good luck!

    Hi Dreamer,

Thanks for the tip. When you say "mudding" is that the same as poultice? Every time she has a growth spurt, the knee gets puffy. I was putting a knee wrap on her but it kept slipping. Bute seems to work the best but I limit it to only three days.

    Thanks!!!

I entered Zoe in the Thoroughbred Yearling Filly class at the Upperville Colt and Horse Show last Sunday and she got a second place ribbon. She was very hard to handle since it was her first time around a crowd of people and I got a dislocated finger. The VTA Yearling Futurity in August is next. The VTA is putting up $5000.00 in cash prizes.
