Thread: Could this be the year a horse wins the Triple Crown?

Could this be the year a horse wins the Triple Crown?

If one of these horses steps up, and the rest continue to run like they have, it might be the easiest year ever to win the Triple Crown. Nehro kind of sounds like a Triple Crown winner, doesn't it?

Come on, Arch(to the third power) has a great story, old school trainer, been around forever, son in law of the trainer riding the horse. I'd love to see him take it.

These horses will take turns beating each other all year long. I see 3 different winners.

    If I had to guess

KY Derby- Midnight, Arch, or Nehro

    Preakness- Dance City

Belmont- Stay Thirsty with an 85 beyer
KY Derby 1) Midnight Interlude 2) Anthony's Cross 3) 4) Archarcharch 5) Dialed In 6) Toby's Corner 7) Mucho Macho Man 8) Animal Kingdom 9) Watch Me Go 10) Santiva

I hope so. I'm so desperate for a TC winner they could load the horse on a stud van as soon as he crosses the wire for the Belmont and I'd be a-ok with it.

who is Nehro named after, is it Nehro Mohammad, or does Ahmed have a son named Nehro. Very cool name, that Nehro..

I was going to disagree with you and feel there will be three different winners because they are all so average and there are no real standouts and then I saw the father of our Country has the same view so I really have to rethink my position...

Oh c'mon! The name 'Seattle Slew' itself is a pretty dumb name, but the horse himself made it significant

It's tough to imagine a horse who has only won one race suddenly winning three G1s in a row. But hey, I certainly wouldn't complain! (Arch)^3 would be great, and I think he has the toughness, but maybe not the brilliance. A healthy Uncle Mo who repeats his Juvy in all three races could do it, too bad that's only like to happen in my dreams.

    Stay Thirsty winning the Belmont?

Yes, but not Nehro. Nearly every previous TC winner has won at least one of their TC races wire-to-wire, and have also shown versatility/tractability. There is one horse that best fits the description this year, and his name is Uncle Mo.

But Premier Pegasus seems like a more fitting name.

I would've loved to see Premier Pegasus win the Triple Crown if he hadn't gotten injured.I love the story behind him and his connections, and his connections seem like such nice, kind, generous people.

It really is a shame he's hurt. I think he would have had a big chance in Louisville.

Nehro hasn't won wire-to-wire but he has shown versatility. His 2nd to Pants on Fire he sat 3rd most of the race, much closer up than his race before and after. That's one of the things I like about him, when stuck in a race with a slow pace, instead of sitting last he was up in 3rd stalking. But I'm not sure we can base much of anything on past Triple Crown winners, the game has changed quite a bit since then.

    Well, yeah, sort of.

Only three of the triple crown winners led the Derby wire-to-wire (though a few more were pressers). Because of the nature of the Belmont, especially in a triple crown year, that's a much easier race to wind up winning wire-to-wire. It seems to me that if you just restrict attention to triple crown winners, the running style with which they succeeded in the first leg seems very evenly distributed, with no particular style for that race being shown to be advantageous.

Re: Could this be the year a horse wins the Triple Crown?

Not even in your dreams will we have a triple crown winner this year. I also think there will be three different winners like last year and 2009. A triple crown , almost impossible in today's world.

My predictions : Derby Dialed In
    Preakness Uncle Mo
    Belmont Sway Away
