As I said in another thread, this horse is very game and versatile - he's won on all 3 surfaces, can win on the front end or from behind, and stretched out successfully to 7.5 F yesterday. The reason you don't see anything much about him here is because he's a Cal bred. But I'd wager The Tin Man has some photos of him.

The Met Mile? May be ambitious for him but I wouldn't fault the connections if they sent him there.

I am not saying you are wrong, but, to support or prove your point, please let me know which 5YO Kentucky bred racing on the East coast of similar accomplishments (a one time graded stakes (G2) winner) is currently receiving more attention on this forum than Amazombie?

You'd win your bet ... Here they are from yesterday ...

And yeah ... I love this guy ... Always have. Glad to see him getting some press these days! He's certainly turned into quite the machine! No more 11-1 odds on him any more. Looks like we'll be 3/2 or less from here on out.

He dominated yesterday's race from start to finish. My stretch run picture really shows his powerful stride well.

I can't think of any Ky bred sprinters except for Smiling Tiger (who has his own thread) who are as consistent as Amazombie, otherwise they'd probably deserve mentions/threads/hype. Horses like Munnings, Majesticperfection and Discreetly Mine were sprinters that got a lot of attention here.

I would compare Amazombie to a horse like Calibrachoa but the latter is a G3 winner, a NY bred and has not run and won on either grass or synthetic. Big Drama has a thread of his own too, but he's a FL bred and a G1 winner, so can't make a comparison there. So there's little I can compare Amazombie to because he has run and won on all 3 surfaces (Smiling Tiger's won on 2 of the 3).

The reason I made the Cal-bred comment is that horses that are bred in states other than KY (with the possible exception of FL) generally get short shrift. Not always, but they usually do.

I do post about Amazombie in the Gelding Thread, but he certainly is worthy of his own thread.

I love how he has risen from the claiming ranks to multiple stakes winner; now he will point to the Triple Bend in July after some time off.

I love Amazombie. Several of the cool older geldings, mares, and horses don't get the individual thread recognition I think they deserve; Amazombie is one of those who deserves his own thread

    Re: Amazombie bandwagon!!

Spawr is the under appreciated one. This has been one very well managed horse. Even his first open company try at the stakes level was well thought out. The Sunshine Millions spot was probably tougher than the Portrero Grande was.

Amazombie is about as sharp as he can be now and he'll probably stay good all year because he is in such capable hands. He's run 4 times this year so my guess is that they will ease up a little look down the road at the Triple Bend for him.

I think they got him for 10k? They're pretty lucky. So is Amazombie.

Amazombie got a respectable 106 Beyer.

    From brisnet.com

Bill Spawr is pleased with Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Amazombie (Northern Afleet) as he gears up for his 2012 debut in the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Stakes on January 21. "I'd say he's on schedule or even ahead of schedule," Spawr said of Amazombie, who covered four furlongs in :48 2/5, breezing, on Wednesday. "I mapped everything out from the 21st back in case we get some bad weather, so I've got a little wiggle room."

    From brisnet.com

Amazombie (Northern Afleet), favored to be named champion male sprinter after scoring in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Sprint, worked five furlongs in 1:03 4/5 over the fast main track at Santa Anita on Monday in advance of the Grade 2 Palos Verdes Stakes on January 21.

"He went dynamite," said regular rider Mike Smith, who was aboard for the drill. "He went nice and easy early this morning. He was on the muscle, feeling good, pulling, but in a good way. I was really happy with the way he went. He came back jogging like a champion."

Hope he comes back in 2012 and dusts them all again!

    Re: Amazombie bandwagon!!

This is one bandwagon I've been on for awhile. I remember getting prices on this guy! Love him!

Thank you for the reminder about his 2012 debut! Go him and Mike Smith! It'd be cool if Mike's 5000th win ended up on a guy like him!

It's good to see this guy make a name for himself.

I think he'll have another good year.
