She's by Proud Cardenal who was retired multiple times and sent to stud, only to be brought back and finally die after winning a race at Fairplex last year at age 11 ...
He deserved a much better fate ... But at least it's a little comforting to hear he has a baby girl with a name ... And named AFTER him at that! Very cool!

(Update ... I just checked and she's doing ok. Running in New Mexico and is 15-1-1-3.)

I would assume it's because it's often hard to tell if a horse is a true black or not without genetic testing. That's why there are very few horses registered as black. Even those that appear to be true blacks are often labeled as dark brown to be on the safe side. I don't know if Sunday Silence was ever tested, but most people like to think he was a true black. Seeing as how is sire was Halo, I'm inclined to believe it.

He is a 4 year old Thoroughbred Dominant White stallion by Panoramic (and I believe his base coat colour is black) and this was his second time being off the property. The first was a schooling show that had a million ponies in the warm up ring and he didnt eat one of them!
He was a star - handled being in close proximity to other horses without batting an eye, but I am LOVING what I am seeing of his form over fences!!!
And
What a lovely young stallion - his owners are thrilled with him in every possible way and I am really pleased to see what Panoramic is producing in the way of jumping ability in his offspring!
