They are lovely Jas. That Dunkirk has some real quality about her.
I can't believe your guys are shedding their foal coats already. Mine are hanging onto their hair like they think another winter is coming.
I, too, love your colt. He looks great!
All three of them are just beautiful. I love Syriana's face with that pretty white kite shaped marking. I have to do a double-take on those legs of your Dunkirk filly, wow! Colonel John really seems to throw a gorgeous foal. Thank you for sharing the photos (I love baby pics).
Great photos...every one looks wonderful. There isn't much better than foals...
I have a question about the Dunkirk...that's a nurse mare she's with, I assume her dam passed away? It's so sad when the foal's loose their mama, for whatever reason...who is this filly's dam? If she passed away, I am very sorry for your lose.
Actually, her mother is alive and well and hopefully in foal to Scat Daddy. Her dam is just a bit tricky to deal with when a foal is at her side, so it was for the best. The filly took to the nurse mare right away and the nurse mare's foal was adopted by another nurse mare who had a dead foal.

Thanks, Jas...that's great news. Those nurse mares are amazing creatures... I understand about this filly's dam, sounds like she is too protective and won't trust human's with her baby? A lot of times that does get the foal hurt...the right thing was done in this case, no doubt.
I am very partial to broodmares and foals...worked on a farm in Ocala and had my own...I get 'foalitis' every year when they start hitting the ground![]()
That Dunkirk filly is going to be hell on four hooves -- you can just tell.![]()

What a pretty face! Love his little dribble at the bottom of his star, so unique. Jas, you really have three special babies this year.![]()
Jas,
Beautiful babies. I have a question about the Dunkirk's nurse mare, what color is she considered? Really love that last photo you posted.
I can answer that for you...palomino.
Jas...that Dunkirk has some of the best bone I've seen on babies...I hope he turns into a popular stallion after his get hit the track...if he puts bone like that on them, it's a very good thing!!
I love the babies, love seeing pics of them all...just wish it wouldn't make me miss having my own foals on the ground so much...I retired my mares and I will always miss having the foals...they are so great to work with, and play with...just love' em!!
LW, thanks for the kind words. I believe the nurse mare's breed are entirely different shades of chestnut with flaxen manes and tails. They're quite striking.
fdf, she certainly has her daddy's legs but I think she gets most her bone from her dam, who is a huge 17h Pleasant Tap mare. This filly has the best of both parents.
She's also an extremely smart girl. Here are some photos of her going on a lead for the first time. She didn't fight it and quite loved going for a walk around the farm. She's really curious with no fear. She's got an absolutely massive stride on her and she's the biggest foal on the farm. She's something else.
