Let me know if I'm going over-kill with the photos but I kinda love this crop of foals, especially since we're keeping one! lol

Here are the two girls. You can def see the age difference.

And the princess Syriana (Harlington filly). I'm so loving this girl. Can't wait to see what she is for us in the future.

And you can also see the dam's influence in the the Dunkirk.

They all look fantastic Jas! I really like your Syriana filly. She's really put together nicely and she's gorgeous too! That Dunkirk filly is huge. How tall do you think she'll be? Your Colonel John's a nice looking boy too. He looks like a total sweetheart. (Although looks can be deceiving in that department ).

    Thanks!

You're right, Tap. BL has a heavy influence in her daughter but the filly is much more athletic and refined than she is, but still has ample bone and substance. It really was the perfect physical cross.

Drew, the Dunkirk's dam is 17h and massive bodied and Dunkirk isn't small. I believe he's listed at around 16.2. I imagine she'll be in the vicinity of 17h when it's all said and done.

I actually think there's a chance Syriana may be the tallest of the three when mature. Her sire is a tall 16.3 and her dam is 16.1 but she is ALL leg.

The CJ colt is actually the least sweet of the three. He's got a little attitude on him and is very much the pack leader amongst the foals in his paddock. In fact, the two fillies LOVE being pet and hugged and the colt would probably buck and take off. But he does have the absolute sweetest looking face!

I think it's fascinating how many different personalities there are! Mine does not seem to care who plays with him as long as it's someone or something and while he will practically melt when you give him a good scratch (he will stand for ages) he loves to run and then poor GiGi runs frantically after him and as soon as she gets near him he stops to graze and when she settles down and puts her head down to graze he runs off again. I'm sure the other mom's must look at her and think "someday she'll learn" but I can't wait to get out there again and see this so I can get some video.

Re: New pics of the foals

I find their personalities fascinating as well.

The CJ colt is studdish (without displaying sexual aggression yet) but manageable. He's just really full of himself. He does this thing where he'll walk up to the other foals and stare them down. They all give in. He's also pretty independent where his mother is concerned. When she would be brought in to be teased or palped he'd stay in the paddock and watch her being led out and wouldn't show any concern. Most of the babies would follow their moms out.

The Harlington filly spent half of the first two weeks of her life in the clinic so she absolutely loves people. When she was in there she wasn't allowed to nurse off the mare so she was separated from her in the stall by a fence so the techs would come in and lay down with her and love on her. She'd fall asleep with her head on their laps. She's the hardest one to take a photo of because if she sees a person she's going to walk up to you and want to be loved on.

The Dunkirk filly is a character. She's not interested in other horses. She's not interested in her nurse mare. She is 100% independent and even at 7 days old she'd be on the other side of a 10 acre paddock sleeping by herself while all the other horses including her nurse mare would be on the other side. She's a funny girl and SUPER smart. She picks up on everything quickly.

Jas, they are growing up beautifully! I love the pics, and I really enjoy your descriptions of their personalities, too. Our years of breeding and raising babies has come and gone so I will just re-live those days vicariously through others now. It sounds like you have two super strong personalities and one love bug (Harlington filly). Isn't it funny how distinct their personalities are, even from birth? (Just like people). I find that fascinating too.
