Yonkers mutuel clerks suspended for betting
The New York State Racing and Wagering Board has suspended 11 mutuel clerks at Yonkers Raceway for betting on races while they were working. A New York newspaper reported that the clerks were suspended for 30 days.
Three former pari-mutuel clerks also had their licenses suspended for 60 days and were fired. The clerks were found to have violated a rule that took effect in 2007 banning tellers at harness and thoroughbred tracks from placing bets while they were working.

What a sick game this is. Trainers, jockeys, harness drivers can all bet......but clerks can't? Is that clerk going to have incentive to fix a race with his or her bet?

I can't recall the last time I visited Gulfstream Park and wasn't kept waiting by a clerk inputting his/her own bets. They would have no clerks at all there if they fired all who place their own wagers.
