Okay, this one came by DQ -- but The Gemster just picked up a GS win at age 9!

Gem was so full of himself after the race, and to look at him you'd think he hadn't run yet. I'll never grow tired of seeing him run, and win, and chow down his much deserved carrots afterwards as fast as I can feed them to him. Gosh I love this boy!![]()
He didn't get his picture taken yesterday, did he? I guess everyone thought the inquirty had little chance of changing the order of finish. He looked great in the post parade and was really moving well in the stretch.
As an aside, who makes the decision to go ahead and take a horse's picture and start the trophy presentation when there is an inquiry ongoing. Has that ever happened before (where during the trophy presentation, the trophy basically has to be taken back because the horse was dqed)?
No, he didn't get his picture taken. All of us did, but he was already back to the testing barn by then. The track photographer was the one getting the other group together for the photo. He kept asking 'is everyone here'. The inquiry was long, but considering it was a stakes race, two photos should have been taken...but that's just me. We all took a photo with Gem after he got out of the testing barn, but it's not the same. dang it
Just had to share this photo tweeted by WPTB. The Gemster is SUCH a ham! And that's Baltazar, his groom, with him -- after the Berkeley.

Gemmy looks so happy at the news that he won the race![]()
I made a separate post, but I wanted to post in here too.
I'm currently working on a tribute video for Awesome Gem for a luncheon next week held by The Race for Education(raceforeducation.org). Gem has been the longest-running earner for RFE and has helped many kids further their education as a result!
I am currently looking for photos to use in the video. Photo credit will be given and I will destroy any photo files after the video is completed. This is NOT for broadcast, just simply a, "Thank You," video to be shown at the luncheon.
If you have a photo that I could use, please email me at mane.madness@gmail.com
I'd be happy to send you a digital copy of the video when it is done.
Thanks!
