At Yonkers they go 8.5 furlongs every night!!!

she had not race for three weeks! those horses race every week. so she was short!!

Most of the races at Yonkers at at 1 and 1/16 miles due to the sharp turns
Pretty Katherine if short would have run some and then went backwards through the stretch.Pretty Katherine never got on stride leaving and finished 24 lengths behind.
Pacers wearing hopples rarely break. It is possible she had broken equipment or injury.

I had a horse lose a shoe in a race and kept on pace.

I see no reason to think there was a serious injury so to make some calls to check would be not needed.Nice to hear someone care about the wellbeing of a horse.(:

    Photos from the Tarport here

Excuse the disaster that is my photo gallery right now. I've been uploading like crazy over the past few weeks, but haven't been keeping up with organizing the photos. One of these days I'll catch up!

They are lovely, Cat. Ha, she's got the cotton in the ears like Zen- or is that pretty standard in harness racing?

What excitement. Wow. What a horse.

We could have made it from Delaware and would have if we had bothered to get an accurate recitation of when the race went off...

I had read 8:20 here...and then 8:23 on another site and then the race goers off around 9:00...

I believe that many harness horses have cotton in their ears so that at the top of the stretch, the drivers can pull the cotton out with a string that they're holding.

The problem was that there were multiple delays early in the card, with inquiries galore and also a half-hour tote delay. The races ended up being at least an hour behind schedule. :/

Thanks for the info...just sorry I wasn't there...but glad you were

Does anyone know what race is next for her?

Any chance she races at Saratoga?

I heard that her next race could be at Yonkers. I've also heard the filly version of the Little Brown Jug.

Edit: Also, if it makes you feel any better, traffic on the NJ Turnpike was AWFUL heading up to the Meadowlands.

    It does.

    Thank you.

The Little Brown Jug is one of a king.It takes place at the Delaware Fairgrounds where there are 50k people there for the fair sitting in the grandstands and on beach chairs
its the ambience not the race.

    That is correct!!

Pull out earplugs are used to calm a horse from the noise for some when pulled it gives them extra adrenalin.

The Little Brown Jug may attract 50k people to it.
The" female version" of the Little Brown Jug at Yonkers may attract 50 people to it.
    Just a bit of a difference .
Even for the Meadowlands Pace the attendance is fair.
Only the Hambletonian gets a good turnout because its a worldwide viewed event.
If Jimmy Takter wants to compare a horse to Zenyatta a number of years ago he had a huge phlly trotter Monimaker who was an amazon and raced in the US, Canada and Europe.
Made lots of money and fans.

Moni Maker was the only filly to win the Prix d'Amérique, right?

Monimaker was amazing, she's actually not that far from me in retirement, she was in a barn collapse over the winter and made it out ok, but 2 did not
I wonder if they allow people to visit her?

If Peelers goes to the female version of the Jug at Yonkers, it will bring alot of people. The last time she was at Yonkers, the only reason that I did not go was because of my sister's 40th birthday party. I would love to see her live. She's drawing attention to the sport from people who normally just do give a rat's patootee about harness racing(or horse racing in general), and that's a good thing.

The female version of the Jug is the Jugette at Delaware, not at Yonkers. I think two statements by a poster later got incorrectly joined together.

Even the Jugette isn't really the female version of the Jug anymore, since they've eliminated the requirement to win two heats.

Re: See You at Peelers ties world pacing record

I will agree the Jugette is the Jug for fillies.
Until you have attended the Jug you cannot imagine there is nothing like it.
Yonkers may get 100 people.Delaware is packed.
Peelers lucked out in the Meadowlands.Watch the repeat on you tube.
Monimaker traveled the world and most likely was the only Prix winner.
She was a superhorse. Keep your money in your purse on Peelers.
Tommorow I hope to have a horse improve.Real Real early and not a stakes race but
    could be fun.
If you want to go back there was Nadia Lobell. Or go back and there was Cam Fella or Niatross. Now we are talking the best of the best. She failed the mile test in anyones opinion. So she is in no way a zenyatta. If she wins and Yonkers great but I think
she is very beatable at a mile.Too much for her.She has to be built like a MoniMaker.
    An amazon.

FYI Takter said that SYAP "wasn't herself" that night, and came up sick with colic on Sunday. So there's that.
