I was looking for an article to confirm SYAP's retirement, and ran across this one that's inconclusive. It sounds like she'll have a couple months off before her trainer decides what to do.
See You At Peelers future still undecided
Trainer Jimmy Takter told harnessracing.com late Monday that See You At Peelers’ heart rate soared again when checked following her seventh-place finish in her Breeders Crown elimination Saturday night, Oct. 22, at Woodbine Racetrack, and that she will now be turned out for two months before a decision is made on her future.
“I am going to turn her out for a couple of months and then make a decision on what her future is going to be,” said Takter. “I don’t want to make the call right now. If she doesn’t look totally healthy after two months of rest, then she’ll be a mother.”
After winning her first 22 starts over her two years of racing, See You At Peelers finished sixth in the Nadia Lobell Aug. 29 at The Meadows. She then crossed the wire first in a New York Sire Stakes event one week later at Tioga Downs, but was disqualified to second for bearing in down the stretch on another horse and causing interference.
Takter said while See You At Peelers had a higher-than-normal heart rate following both those races, the number was extremely elevated following the Breeders Crown race in which she was moved to the lead by driver Marcus Johansson at the opening quarter of :26.1, but faded badly in the stretch after leading through fractions of :54.4 and 1:23.2. See You At Peelers paced her final quarter of :30.1 as she faded to last in the seven-horse field, beaten 14 ¼ lengths by the 1:50.4-winning Rocklamation.
“She had a heart rate of 140 afterward on Saturday, the highest I’ve ever had for a horse,” he said. “A normal horse like her would be in the low 90s when she was racing at her best. She had 116 in Pittsburgh and 114 at Tioga. Soundness-wise she is very good, so this is tough...........”

Gosh, that heart rate is insane. With all that she's done, I would have no problem seeing her retired. They may never get this resolved. It's like she's so competative, that she is literally pacing beyond her body. If they do decide to retire and bred her, they have to be thinking that the stress of labour may be a bit much for her with this heart issue. I hope that she is ok.![]()

well, i would have liked to see her retired...especially since the fast heart beat seems to show up with no real warning
Ah, forgot about that. They may just have to do that, with her cardiac issue and all.

Any news about her?
I can't see how to post a link, but this info is from a column about Jimmy Takter in Harness Racing Weekend Preview for January 13 (Horseman Publishing Co.).
Takter said he trained her Jan. 9, she felt awesome, and her heart rate was normal.
He said she must have grown an inch and a half and gained 200 pounds.
He'll work with her until March and decide whether to race her or breed her.

A good source of news for harness racing is Harness Racing Update. If you're interested, you can subscribe for free by providing some information - the main piece of which is an email ID.
I've been a subscriber since HRU started. A couple times per week, usually Friday and Saturday, I receive an email with a link to the current newsletter. It contains information about the big races that week and other items of interest. I can also go directly to the archive for past newsletters at any time.
Today's newsletter has an article "Can Peelers Be No. 1 Again?".
Sometimes there are free Trackmaster PPs for one or more big races in the newsletter, but there aren't any today.

Peelers dead heated with another horse for the win. Looked like she was beat deep in the lane, and then moved to the outside like she was shoot out of a cannon. There was an inquiry involving her, but order remained. She was unhurried in the intial stages, was 4th until moved to the outside late. Thought for sure she got beat, but a win is a win, even if it is shared.
