No Saratoga gala for Marylou Whitney this year . . .

Instead she and her husband will be expanding their work with the folks on the backstretch:

A very noble effort. I am supportive of all the horse rescue groups, but untill horsemen rescue thier own employees, I have little hope for the horses. Marylou is a classy broad.

    Cheers to Mrs. Whitney.

Isn't NYRA building new dorms at Saratoga or are the executives just getting raises? How pathetic is it that Mountaineer and Churchill and Gulfstream have nice dorms and the cash rich Saratoga has backstretch workers living in terrile conditions. Thank goodness for the Whitneys and Melnyks because obviously the people that run racing in NY are no looking out for the workers. They are too busy paying themselves to basically do nothing.

NYRA said if they just got slots they could build new housing for workers. They got the slots. There is not a bank in the world that will not loan them the money to build the dorms to be paid off with slot money. Nothing though. Not evena ribbon cutting ceremony. There is nothing more disgusting to me than taking people to Saratoga that are not racing fans and listening to their disgustat how workers have to live. Explain to me how Frank Stronach built nice dorms with air conditioning and things like microwaves and NYRA can't. Why is it Mountaineer can do it but NYRA can't. That is what happens when people that run not for profits pay themselves more than the President of the United States.

There has been talk of building new dorms at all the tracks in NY but so far nothing happens. At the last trainer's meeting the other day Rick Violette said it was on the table for when slot money start kicking in.

Mary Lou Whitney is a gem.

Mountaineer has nice dorms? Really? The backstretch there was pretty awful the one time I was back there. I was surprised at how rundown it was. But it's been a few years since that visit. Was there in 2009, but not on the backside.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but TC poster Pengamon is walking through the rain in upstate NY today, for the benefit of the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and Belmont Child Care Association. Great job, Jeremy.

Mountaineer has dorms that are nicer than cheap hotels. The bedbug stories and lack of electicity for air conditioning at Saratoga are unacceptable. I have sat feet from state legislators (a few that have boxes at Saratoga) and let them know how disgusted I was and they gave me the look like the living conditions at Saratoga were not that bad. They are atrocious. Nothing disgust me more than getting in my car at Oklahoma and driving away knowing some of these people have to live in housing that costs less than a single horse on the track. Pay NY day rates and ask yourself how it can be so expensive when the tracks can't even provide trainers workers with decent housing. Churchill provides free housing during the meets. Gulfstream a minor charge. These people do nt need great housing but just livable with air conditioning and heat. Stronachs lookbetter on the outside than the inside but he desrves praise for the Gulfstream dorms. He gave each room a private bathroom and air conditioning and even a refrigerator and microwave.

Bully for Frank. He has a casino to pay for it. In the process he ruined a beautiful track for those that go there for horse racing. Are you too stupid to realize that the slot money is not yet flowing in New York? Maybe you should shut your fat yap for a year or so and see what shakes out.

NYRA is allowed to borrow money from a bank?

Of course. How do you think any organization pays for improvements. If NYRA had to pay cash to build dorms the dorms would never be built. Oh wait....

I know my facts. The ESDC functions just like a bank. They don't give money away.
