Thread: My Assets

    My Assets

This might be an interesting filly to follow. If you look at her three starts, the word must have been out on her as she was the favorite in her first start. She did close into some heady early fractions (the final time wasn't much to write home about) to miss by only a couple of lengths after a poor beginning. She then broke her maiden winning easily. From there, she went into the G1 Mother Goose.

My gut says that that's quite a step up for a filly who was only just starting her racing career, but she is owned and bred by Darley and I imagine they have high hopes for every horse they breed.

Still, I wonder if easier company wouldn't have been a better spot for her. It'll be interesting to see where they go with her next.

She wasn't REALLY the favorite in her debut. Her entrymate, though she finished well back, was really the one being bet.

Duly noted ... although it was the leap to the G1 after breaking her maiden and getting crushed that caught my eye.

Edit: Stablemate did a lot worse than My Assets so I wonder what it was that the fans saw in either one of them. Maybe the fact that My Assets hadn't run? They thought she had as good a chance as any in there?

I'd like to see a more natural progression for some of these horses ... an AOT, a small stake, even a G3 first.

Good to know, it's sometimes tricky to figure out who the hot entry mate was when you just see PP's of first or second time starters.

The stablemate was very strongly bet, I believe, in her Gulfstream debut, and was very rank. As it turned out, she had the same issues in her 2nd start as well, and you will see how high she holds her head if you watch either of his first two races. She is likely talented but clearly has some issues ( sorry, I forget her name ).

As for Saturday's spot, I think Tom Albertrani took a shot after Royal Delta and Plum Pretty dropped out. I thought she might run better as well. But, in her maiden win, she got a very strong pace to close into, so perhaps she is a bit dressed up off that race.

Isn't Kinda Spicy, the Darley/Albertrani debut winner from Sunday the 19th an even more promising horse from that stable?

Even before I looked at the chart, the progression here sounded more like trying to take one shot at improving her second-career value now that she's done. It was a six-horse field, and she was one of two fillies who "bore out" and failed to come home; three of the other four are now G1-placed. It looks like Albertrani and McLaughlin knew that their fillies were on the way to the breeding shed, and were trying to hold together for one last race that might let them get their as G1-placed, rather than just winners.

    Maybe I'm just too skeptical.

Based on the title, I expected pictures.
    Everyone come home sound

    Re: My Assets

She didn't run very well in the Mother Goose. Her sire's offspring have not exactly improved as they've matured so while I certainly will root for her, I can't see her being a player in this division.

Well, if you're right, then good, she didn't get the coveted G1SP designation.

That reminds me of the TVG discussion about the four horse Hollywood Oaks when the discussion turned to getting just what you describe above and then they finished up with something like .... *the page will only show G1 placed ... in a few years, no one is going to remember that there were only four horses in the race ...*

Looking for suckers unless someone does their homework.

Now I'm going to definitely put her in my Virtual Stable, just to see if she runs again. I guess if she doesn't, you win.

Date to Remember is My Asset's stablemate and she's not very good at all; she just got trounced at Monmouth.

    Long or short?

Could you give me the date and race number? Just curious to see if she's still misbehaving.

Date to Remember was third going a mile and seventy at Monmouth, but she has never run as part of an entry. My Asset's entrymate in Florida was Naughty or Nice, who has not run since and shows one 3f breeze at Greentree Training Center since her effort in that race.

You mean at Belmont ( not Florida )...but thanks. That's her.

I drove by Greentree yesterday. Such an amazing place.

Oops, I'm sorry - you're right. NBN ran ok in her debut, but was bad in her next start at Belmont.

Naughty or Nice is finally reentered....2nd at Aqueduct next Thursday. Part of a 2:5 looking entry.

If you haven't watched Naughty or Nice's win in the 2nd race at Aqueduct today, I recommend watching it. Pretty amazing win.
