David Barker had 19 winners in the whole of 2006, he's up to 17 already this year. Really racking them up of late.

North Yorkshire trainer TKS - won't say he stops them but he's flying at the moment. Can get all his horses on www.racingpost.co.uk under trainer search and "engagements" from the pop up

A few comments are in order:
Rider Michael Baze has been piggybacked to the top of the jockey standings
at Hollywood Park through Mike Mitchell and Michael Machowsky.
The Mike / Mike / Mike horses are a collective 14 for 32 the last two months.
This is a HUGE surprise in the Hollywood jockey standings.

At the other end of the spectrum....
Michael Salvaggio teaming up with rider Chris Baker has been old news
for many years now. They're right up there at 41% rate.
But be especially aware of that tandem when shipping out of Penn National.

Re: Combos: current hot trainer / jockeys

TKS do you ever look at strike rates overall?

Like when R. Baze rides for T. Sanchez he's had 5/7 winners etc and punt that way. A top jock riding for a small yard/trainer always draws my attention.

    [/quote]

I think any rider riding for any competent trainer can do well.
But I'd be wary about Russell Baze riding for a 5 percent win trainer.

You may remember a few years back I started a thread
about Todd Glasser riding for the capable trainer Martin Ciresa
who was based at Philadelphia Park at the time.

Todd Glasser is not exactly a household name in the states
and neither is Mr. Ciresa but they clicked quite regularly
    when they teamed up.
Especially when shipping into New York in the winter time.
At the time Mr. Ciresa had a few New York breds in his barn
and had a meticulous plan of operation.

I'd say it helps the mutuels if the rider is a relative unknown.
If a Russell Baze is up on a mount, you just know that the crowd
is going to knock over little old ladies enroute to the betting windows.
So the wager value will usually not be there.

A competent (but not high profile) trainer will often piggyback the riders
to lofty success rates that the riders previously had not been achieving.
See Michael Baze at Hollywood Park.
Or Chris DeCarlo riding for Todd Pletcher at Monmouth Park.

Sort of like when Chuckie C.C. Lopez took over Monmouth when Carlos Lopez

Thus the confusion on my part.

    You made me proud, Mike.

Thanks for taking the initiative in what I believe is a pretty good way
to tab key horses. I'm assuming these hot combos run in the exactas
an inordinately high percentage of the time.

I was thinking of setting up a "decoy player" for On-The-Nose (July)
who would play only these high percentage players.
At least someone is paying attention to this. That's good for the time being.
Let's see what happens "on paper" today.

Re: Combos: current hot trainer / jockeys

A quick recap on the plays Mike posted for June 28th
2 wins out of 6 plays (1 scratched) $6.20 total return on $12 bucks.

The big story was a scant loss by a 15/1 shot at Evangeline Downs.
    Those players who are interested,
can install a minimum odds requirement for these.

This week's list features a couple of 50% tandems at Arlington Park
Mike Gorham / Joe Rocco and Wayne Catalano / Rene Douglas.

Ron Shenofsky and Joel Campbell aren't too shabby either at 47%,
but I think those numbers include the starts made at Indiana Downs with the ship-ins
    from Illinois.

The always prolific Wayne Catalano appears once again with E.T. Baird
at 46%. At the very bottom of the list, rider Rene Douglas also appears again,
    this time with Todd Pletcher.

Every Arlington regular should be aware of these live combos at this time
when handicapping over the Polytrack. These guys have figured it out.
I weigh it as a plus factor when the go-to-guy hops aboard
along with another positive attribute in the horse's record.

This edition finds the continuation of the dominant Mikes in Southern California.
This was outlined earlier in this thread.

Up north at the fairs, Steve "McCann's Mojave" Specht is on fire
at Pleasanton with Luis V. Martinez. Mr. Specht is one of my favorite
trainers at Bay Meadows / Golden Gate fields with the stretchout
and with new stock in their first two starts.

The other red hot combo at the NoCal fairs is the younger Morey
teaming up with Russell "the muscle". His dad William Morey jr.
loves to do the work 'n ship. That's a series of strong works
before vanning in. Granted this combo will land on a lot of
6/5 shots but that's the plan to key these in the top two spots
of the exotics along with a longer priced horse.
