Wow, if I trained Brigand I wouldn't be eager to have my owner realize he'd just wasted what, $950,000, so soon! Maybe "B squared" really is confident he'll improve big time.

Night Tide for me. Loved his finish at 4 1/2F. Majestic City is proven fast, though.
I ran marathons. I saw the Taj Mahal by moonlight. I drove Highway 1 in a convertible. I petted Zenyatta.

Majestic City's primary competition should be Pend Oreille and maybe Ruler Of Dubai.

Pend Oreille has looked really good ... Majestic City though, is the cream here.

Brigand isn't ready for this yet ... I'd be astonished if he doesn't get crushed in this race.

I look forward to seeing how Brigand fairs. Baffert never likes to enter a horse that he does not feel is ready for a race. Go Brigand!!!

You'd do better to cheer for Night Tide, Lucky ... He's got a much better chance here ...

As much as Baffert wins, he acually loses two thirds of the time you know?

My exacta is Majestic City/Pend Oreille.

You probably already know this LAL, but Baffert (aka "midnightlute") tweeted yesterday "Night Tide and Brigand are running Sunday in Juvenile Sunday. Could be my stars this summer." Baffert doesn't tweet much but the last time he called out a horse (can't remember who it was) the horse absolutely demolished the field.

Majestic City by a block -- hopefully.
What is it about single-toed ungulates running around an oval for approximately 90 seconds that inspires people to bet billions of dollars and devote their entire lives to the activity?

    Very likely ...

The only one I expect to be in his zip code is Pend Oreille.

I think what LAL was saying that it is unusual for BB to enter a horse he feels has no shot and often they run well. Of course he loses but his horses are often competitive.

More or less. I just can't believe that Baffert would enter his 925,000$ "rock star" or "canon" unless he was confident of his chances.

I had no idea, thank you for posting that. I'm going to try and watch the race!

Agree he should be tough from the outside post, but if Night Tide runs back to the debut score, then look out.

The problem is that his "rock Star" was very unimpressive 1st out and barely hung on for dear life against a 36 to 1 horse. He's was running out of gas. One more stride and he loses. He won by a short head and his lead was gobbled up in a flash. The 2nd place horse, Cloud Hopper, was at least 12 to 15 lengths back heading into the final turn and about 4 lengths back in deep stretch. He ate up ground in a flash on Brigand as Martin Garcia was urging Brigand very aggressively.

His Beyer was also something like a 64 or so ...

Hardly something that would signal he's ready for stakes company.

Brigand MAY end up developing into a great horse ... But that 1st performance certainly doesn't indicate he's ready to roll with stakes compay yet. For a winning performace ... It was below lackluster to me ...

Cloud Hopper impressed me MUCH more. That was one heck of a close. I'd much prefer my odds with him in this race.

Now watch Brigand blow the field ... Knowing my luck as of late ...

(BTW - I love the name Brigand and WANT him to be a great horse. I was just very disappointed in his showing. So this is not a "bashing", just an honest observation.)

I understand what you are saying, but it is also true that not all horses make a great first showing, but that is hard to determine until they start a few more times! We shall see, I do like the horses name as well. It could be possible BB doesn't think he is going to win, but will make a good showing.

He's a Bandit scratched in the paddock.

Something happened to Majestic City in the paddock. TVG announcers said they think he flipped, but he has not been scratched. Baffert's horses both look phenomenal (as usual).

Nice run...might as well get everything out of him soon because odds are the wall comes whenever they put him around 2 turns.
Well there's lots of smart ideas in books I've never read, when the girls come talk to me I wish to hell I had
