    Carbonite steps up.

It's an awfully tough challenge for an awfully tough little horse, and I wish him well today. It's good to see him with people who got him to where he was pointed, and I hope he rewards them.

That's a great field... still can't decide who I like best for the win. I'll certainly be rooting hardest for Amazombie.

Euroears delivered. He brought his "A" game and was victorious. Smiling Tiger had an auspicous start, but that doesn't take away from Euroears' performance. Sorry those lemons are so tart.

??? An auspicious start would have given him a win not found him at the back of the pack.

I got this really cool picture of Euroears entering the winner's circle today with Raffy pumping his fist ... I thought I'd share ...

    What race were you watching?

Euroears figured on paper to have things all his own way, and in the paddock he looked far and away the best athlete in the group. The race went just as it looked from that perspective, and the result was a new track record. Amazombie ran better than his recent form and works gave him any right to, and allowed him to claim another G1 placing. Carbonite gave his usual honest effort, and certainly has nothing to hang his head about, missing second money in a G1 by a length-and-a-half, and beaten less than 3 lengths for all of it in track record time.

Euroears joins millionaire's club with record-setting Bing Crosby win

James E. and Marilyn Helzer's EUROEARS (Langfuhr) took the lead soon after the start of Sunday's $250,000 Bing Crosby S. (G1) at Del Mar and proceeded to set a new Polytrack record when wiring the six-furlong affair in 1:08.17, bettering the previous record of 1:08.29 set by Cost of Freedom (Cee's Tizzy) on August 9, 2008.
