I'm very excited for tomorrow! I've been to three Hambos now, and last year we showed up early enough to see the on-track parade before the races. They actually have a parade featuring probably 30-50 horses and riders, including a prior Hambletonian winner! Last year it was Vivid Photo, who was actually still racing at the time. From the below article, it looks like last year's winner, Muscle Massive, may be a part of the festivities. This would be like a Street Sense being paraded before the crowd on Derby Day!
Tomorrow's card can be found at this website, and includes FOURTEEN stakes races!

How great is it for NJ to host 2 great events like the Hambo and the Haskell?
They used to be on the same weekend, with the Hambo on Saturday and Haskell on Sunday. THAT was cool!

it is on NBC at 3 eastern
Live streaming of the undercard here http://stream.robertsstream.com/stre...=NJMeadowlands
Check Me Out won the Merrie Annabelle, is now 6 for 6. New stakes record, of course. Superhorse.
It's funny, I haven't been following harness racing much in the past year or two, yet I still recognize so many horses on the undercard. Buck I St Pat, Autumn Escapade, Won the West, Lucky Jim, Arch Madness, San Pail, Corleone Kosmos, Enough Talk, Foiled Again, Bettor Sweet, Dreamfair Eternal, they just keep running. Such a contrast to the Thoroughbreds.
Although I still hold a grudge against Arch Madness for beating Donato way back when.
My other favorite thing about harness racing: the variety of accents. Jerseyish and Norwegian and Canadian, oh my!
San Pail! What a fantastic story with that horse.
WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE WATCHING? Next 2 races are on NBC, you all better tune in then. Crys Dream and Chapter Seven (by Windsong's Legacy) to win.
I watched the races. Neither horse I picked won, of course, I don't follow harness racing so I just went by names and what the announcers said before the race. Actually I almost forgot it was on until a friend texted me asking the difference between harness racing and regular racing.
2 exciting races and as a novice at watching harness racing,i thought the network coverage was very good
Hambo coverage is always excellent-I still remember Donna riding Deweycheatumnhowe, valuable harness racing superstar and intact 3yo colt, around the farm in a Western saddle. But the people in harness racing - drivers, trainers, owners, handlers - are easier to write human-interest stories around. It is the Sport of Paupers, after all.
Broad Bahn's groom is deaf, so the presentation of the Groom's Award was interesting to watch.
Not sure if anyone saw the race between this year's Meadowlands Pace winner, Roll With Joe, and the second-place finisher Big Jim, but that race was INSANE. Those two went at it early on, including 3/4 in 1:19(!!!!!!), and got passed late by a longshot. I believe the final time was a stakes record.
One of my local favorites, We Will See, won the first division of the US Pacing Championship and tied a world record in the process.
There were obviously two huge losses in the Oaks and Hambo itself, with the #2 not getting there in the Oaks, and Manofmanymissions breaking down the stretch.
Also on-site was an INCREDIBLE cake created by The Cake Boss. I was in awe of that thing!
I'll post my pictures here when I have time to go through them, too.

Heehee...I can't believe I'm about to say this as it's such a "post-Kentucky Derby" comment but...what a average to mediocre crop of 3yo colts.Don't get me wrong, I love the way Broad Bahn goes, he covers a ton of ground. Beautiful moving trotter. But 1:53 for the Hambletonian on a day it was playing quick is pretty darn SLOW.
Kudos to Brennen, he was really the difference in both the Oaks and the Hambo. It was a work of art holding Bold and Fresh together there at the end and getting that :56 half with Broad Bahn...I wouldn't be surprised if he asked a few of the other drivers why they let him get away with it!
Definitely some good races yesterday!
