Good call! I'd take a season to him any day!
Yes. He is a good stallion priced very well. I think he is often among the first to book full each year. Probably not the most fashionable, but they can run.

City Zip and Pollard's Vision are the Carson City stallions that command the most attention in KY. If you were looking for a viable and less pricey alternative with your mare, would you choose Hear No Evil (FL) for 3.5K or Five Star Day (KY) for 5k?

I wouldn't breed to Pollard's Vision at the advertised $12.5K. Maybe once the crop that was bred off Blind Luck's 2YO success starts hitting the tracks he'll pick up a bit more.

Agreed. His 2008 stud fee was 5K. Amazing how Wintergreen thinks they can get more than double that after Blind Luck made the news...

Many of his yearlings earlier this year (2012) have sold for a lot less than the stud fee:

Ah, yes, that one looks more like a mature stallion. It's less a matter of weight and more a matter of secondary sexual characteristics, which is why I was so stymied at the first one.

(Speaking of 'stymied,' Stymie looks like exactly what he was--line-bred to Man o' War. He had the Fair Play front end which was sort of majestically ewe-necked. It was predominant for those lines for several generations, judging from photos, and now seems to have disappeared.)

Yeah, nice thru the chest and barrel- important for the horse to be able to "crank" up. Can't all look like runway models, as long as they can run- Dynaformer is a good example of a horse that was not easy on the eyes-but was outstanding in the shed.

Which sirelines do you think would match well with this son of Tiznow? Bullsbay did carry weight a route of ground, and the Lord Carson blood tells me speedy mares might be the better play?..

Thanks for that. I'm actually stupidly excited to see that line's old distinctive look's still in the genes somewhere.

From what I see in the pics, a ewe neck refers to the sharp upward angle of the neck coming from the withers...???

It's when the underside of the neck is longer than the top, or the horse develops more muscling on the underside than the top.

Ideally, the underside of the neck should be approximately half the length of the topside.

^what she said. If you look at the necks of the studs shown, the top is the same length as the bottom, many times there is a dip at the end of the neck where is meets the withers with a ewe neck, and the bottom side is more muscled than the top side, and thick through the throatlatch. It's a combination of things. If you look at the two pics of War Emblem....one pic he has no muscling along his whole topline, including the top of the neck. The other picture he does have muscling all along his topline...but that doesn't change the fact that the top and bottom of his neck are still the same length.

Don't particularly care for his shoulder. Hard to believe he's 23.
