Thread: Any thoughts on Lewis Michael?

    Any thoughts on Lewis Michael?

He's had a few go through the ring, but hasn't rung up any big numbers.

Any thoughts? First foals will run in 2012...

He's a smallish horse. Rahy hasn't been much of a sire of sires, but it's a quality female family. Kitten's Joy is doing pretty well so far. However, he was also supported a lot more aggressively by his owner. I don't know if Calabrese is that committed to Lewis's success. He's not going to breed and race like 100 little Lewis Michaels for several years to get him started. And, frankly, Three Chimneys doesn't really have the clientele to make him. He's going to have to sink or swim on his own.

This is a picture of him.

I thought he was nicely put together, a bit small as MM says but certainly larger than his sire. I have not seen any of his offspring but would be interested in seeing their size. He was all the way in the back of his paddock when we went to see him. He does get ridden every day.

I will say he's really blossomed since they started riding him. Does a world of good for some horses. He came out of his shell, personality-wise, filled out and began to look very nice.

I really like his female family, he's is a smallish horse, but I like how he's put together.

I think the Broad Brush on the female side is a nice cross with the Rahy on top. We are sending a mare to him next year, she's on larger raw boned side so we think LM would be a nice cross with her.
I don't own my horses, they own me.

Is he the one that the exercise rider at Three Chimneys gave a "girly" kind of nickname, like Shirley or something? I remember seeing a video of him somewhere.

The JC hasn't yet released the 2011 foal counts, but Lewis Michael bred 40 mares in 2010.

I don't know. Seems like he called him Lewis when I was there.

Hmmm... I posted a link to this video on Facebook months ago and now I can't scroll back and find it. Facebook is not really good for that, sometimes it only lets you go back so far. Wish it were searchable. Anyway, checked Three Chimneys website and couldn't find anything there. I'm sure I didn't dream it, but it may have been another stallion who got the girly nickname. It was cute, though.

Any clue if he had any action this year? Am wondering what 3 Chims will do with him?
