I really hope that all are ok, but this has got to be one of the funniest, entertaining threads I have read here in awhile.

Rather... But, in all fairness, even the remnants of feeder bands could bring heavy thunderstorms, though less severe the farther north the system gets. I do remember some brief heavy downpours and some downed tree branches in the mid-Atlantic area from a similar situation years ago. That storm, if I recall, hit Hatteras and then went up the coast.

Bob Kulina may suprise us and cancel before the weekend, but I doubt it. If you cancel now and the storm moves off track, or if it fizzles, you loose $$$.
A Sunday card at Monmouth is in serious jeopardy at this time, but I could see them running on Saturday. And I can't see the Travers being postponed from what I see at this point.
But all this could change at any time.

I imagine Monmouth will cancel.
I heard that The Meadowlands is having a Dropsonde Giveaway (with parachute) this weekend. I'm getting my hoovercraft loaded into the truck....Jim Cantore stories will be simulcasted in the event racing is cancelled.

That would be my guess, but we'll know more once the storm hits land. A 12 hour slowing of the storm could bring the brunt of the storm late Sunday night as opposed to Sunday morning, leaving a window open to run a card on Sunday afternoon, even though I doubt it. But only 1 card has been cancelled due to weather in the last 50 years, and I'm sure there have been storm threats like this before.
It's a wait and see situation now. It's a fluid picture as we get closer to arrival.
And as we speak, His Royal Highness the Governor of NJ has issued a state of emergency for the Jersey Shore. He did not order manditory evacuations at this time, but he is probably leaving the state ASAP![]()

Expect New York and New Jersey emergency management to cancel all sporting events for the weekend later today..Saratoga included...Freeways might be closed except for emergency use...
This is not official yet....Just reading the blogosphere.....Joking aside....All be safe!!!!!

The only Saratoga card in danger is Sunday (Personal Ensign). The Spa could get torrential rains. Have we all become sissified in the last 30 years? They did run the '79 Travers in conditions that might be even worse than what is coming. General Assembly's track record from that day still stands.

Wait to its official...You're dealing with managing/evacuating millions of people...Its a very serious situation...
I know the N.J. Governor has just declared a state of emergency and people within 15?-20 miles of the coast must evacuate...Tens of millions of people need supplies in the tri-state area and hunker down...
Maryland Governor just declared state of emergency....11:00 PST

I am half a mile from the ocean and I can't flood because I'm up way too high... so I guess there will be a big party up here. I won't run out of booze that's for sure.
Folks, contact your racetrack/destination....Find out what days there considering cancelling.
The way this is shaping up I am probably in more danger than anyone. I live 12 feet above mean high tide on Long Island Sound. I am right by the second "L" on Shingle Hill.

I will say that I'd rather be at Del Mar this weekend.

I'm curious as to what sites you are looking at. Everything that I am looking at forecasts the storm hitting NY area late Sunday/early Monday. As for Saratoga, the forecast for Saturday is 80 and sunny, with only a 20% chance of rain. Why would they cancel Travers Day??
