Help Identifying this photo with Secratariat

Good morning everyone. my mother has a professionaly framed photo which appears to be of secratariat and one of his grooms? I was hoping someone on here would be able to identify the man in the picture with him and confirm that this is infact secratariat and possibly the year the photo was taken

    Thank you for any help

I'm not sure who the groom is. But pretty sure that is at Claiborne during his retirement. Looking at his fitness level probably not long after he retired. And well yes that is definitely Secretariat. Can't confuse him with any other horse.

Thank you very much for the information. It helps knowing that it is definately Secratariat, and that he is at claiborn. I had suspected so but wanted to be sure. now i can email claiborn themselves with the photo and see if they know who the groom is without feeling like a fool and told that it was not secratariat.

It's a very lovely photo; the background could not hardly be more lovely with the fence lines and trees on a slight incline, and the fluffy clouds. And there in the center, framed by it all is the stunning Secretariat, standing casually but still giving a regal left profile shot. I love the posture of his handler too, he holds a loose lead but his attention is locked into Secretariat, alert for any sign or hint of what he might be thinking. Really, a beautifully composed photo and no wonder your mother had it professionally framed!

Good luck with id'ing the groom, and thank you very much for sharing the photo. I love Secretariat photos; he was incredibly photogentic.

That most definately is Secretariat. And the yellow gates is a big giveaway to it being Claiborne. He looks like he's ready to run again.

Good luck in your search for the groom, would love to see who this is.

Thank you Native Diver and Serenasong, I sent claiborne a email with links to the photo's last night and hoping to hear back from them soon. As a HUGE racing fan its a thrill to know I have a real photo of the great secratariat and now would just love to be able to put a name to the groom and a date to the picture.

Here's another picture of what looks to be the same groom. Looks like the picture was taken years later, judging by the looks of the groom and Secretariat himself.

Yes, and in the barn to the left would be Secretariat's stall or as some call it "The Stall"- he was in it, his daddy, Easy Goer and Unbridled I believe.
