It was only mentioned by Jess in TVG interview immediately following the awards. Not that there weren't reporters around waiting their turn for him when he was on TVG, so they would have heard it. But maybe you confuse the racing press with a White House press corp
It wasn't an official work either - and I imagine given the influence of this board and blogs - it will be addressed within 24 hours by one of the three decent writers in the game.
Maybe she was galloping a furlong because like I said, even Zippy Chippy could run a furlong faster then 17 seconds

Something here isn't jiving. Dominic says her energy level is great, and that she feels fresh. The 17s 1F could've come from someone looking at their wristwatch for all we know.
Well, if we all noticed it and are talking about it, you can bet the writers, reporters, et al are, too. I bet we get a story or something soon from one of the big publications.

I have an old uncle who screws up my name. I just nod. JJ probably just calls her "Rachel" so much he can't say the 2d name well all the time.
As for the slow work, I predicted a growth spurt for this horse, and I bet she is got it and now has to figure out the new form, plus lose a few holiday pounds. But if Dominic Terry says she feels fresh and that is a new feeling to him, then eek.

I hope that the chapter focuses not on Rachel's win...so much as the most spectacular HOTY showdown in history...where for the first time the two top candidates were female horses...that is truly an incredible story...one which may never be repeated... :grin:

The F.G. should put up a million dollars so she could run here on March 13th. I know C.D. has the money. They never want to put up money for a race or a day for HOTY..Don't understand it. She could have an easy race without Z on March. More like a workout. Don't know who would face her, but it would be the best time to race against her when she;s been off a long layoff and just getting back. Just wish they could do this.

There's more info about a 2010 campaign in there, too.Asmussen said Rachel Alexandra had missed six to eight days of training this winter due either to heavy rain or freezing conditions. But while Rachel might be slightly behind in her training because of the conditions in New Orleans, she also is liable to come around quickly once she begins breezing around Feb. 1.
"She's definitely not a normal horse in that sense," said Asmussen. "Usually when you get started back with a horse after being off that long, they're a little sloppy and slow at first. She was not like that at all."
But in her spirited Wednesday gallop, Rachel looked like she could drag exercise rider Dominic Terry the 530 miles to Oaklawn in a matter of a couple hours.YAY RACHEL!Asked how many times he would like to see Rachel Alexandra race during 2010, should her campaign develop under ideal conditions, Asmussen said that six or seven starts would seem suitable. That would be a relatively busy season for a filly already coming off a Horse of the Year campaign, but from the way Rachel looked on Wednesday, she will be more than ready when her times comes.
I especially love the part about aiming for 6 or 7 starts. If she can do it, I really would love to see her have a full campaign!
