    Young ohio

I'm 18 from ohio and was hoping I'd meet other people here who I can develop a relationship with about horse racing. Yes the subject says ohio but I'm talking about anyone from anywhere. Also it'd be nice if you were closer to my age since their isn't a lot of younger people into horse racing at least not that I know of, however I'm still open to talk to anyone, I'd love to see comments and if you want send me a pm on here. I'm Joe btw and can't wait to hear from everyone

I'm also from Ohio, though I've lived in Kentucky for the past couple of years. I'm 21 by the way. PM me any time!

what was kentucky like? I'll have to wait till the future to find out but two of my dreams are to live in a big city like boston and work as a ceo or something, (I am going to school for business) but the second is to move to somewhere like kentucky and own a large amount of land and have stables with horses etc. More then likely I'll end up in the city though don't have the money for a farm etc, so that's how I'll make the money to eventually own a race horse lol

Hi - I'm in Ohio as well. I did have two horses at the track but recently lost one to colic. I still have one racing so you can follow him if you follow OH racing. Midnight Vader (Invasor out of Allou). He probably will be racing next in the Best of Ohio at Thistledowns in Cleveland next weekend. We've also bred numerous horses that are currently running as well. Another one running in Ohio is Not An Altar Boy (Teuflesburg out of Laird's Honor) and I'm pretty sure our trainer will be putting him in the Best of Ohio as well and if it goes as usual, he'll probably beat my Vader again .

Hopefully you'll learn lots of good things here and visit often.

Sorry, but I'm old enought to be your mom and probably your grandma

dreamer that's fine, any knowledge is good to know from anyone. and also nice knowing people who have horses running in ohio. I won't be able to watch any of those horses race most likely since I live in toledo right now lol but I'll still check. and I grew up around horse racing went every sat to northfield as a kid so this place I haven't really learned anything new so to speak unless it's some news about something going on. but thank you.

Heya! I'm not especially young but I am in Ohio, about 20 minutes from Thistledown (actually worked there one summer) and although I am not part of the industry, am an avid fan. ^_^ Unfortunately, none of my friends know anything about horses or racing other than they wear 'metal dealies on their feet,' which they have four of. x.x

Dreamer, I've been following both Not An Altar Boy and Midnight Vader all summer, I hope they both do well in the Best of Ohio! I'm gonna try my darndest to be there but since I work 3rd shift it's difficult. ^_^ In case I don't make it out there, I wish you and them the best of luck!!!

Calypso - it is so nice to know the "Boys of Ohio" have fans ! I am hoping for good things for Vader but his momma isn't known for producing 2 year old runners and certainly Invasor wasn't really a 2 year old runner but EVENTUALLY this boy has gotta break his maiden, right? NAAB will I am sure continue to do well and make me proud and make hubby grumble that we "gave the good one away" LOL! My hope of course is that they both come home safe and sound. I plan on making the trip up there for the race. With luck (and I haven't heard yet) Catlaunch will be running as well and I'll get to see the big boy run again and hopefully he'll win !

=D Invasor was a beast, if Vader is anything like Daddy, then next summer is gonna be absolutely nightmarish for NAAB. Revenge is sweet.

I was surprised Motega came in 2nd as well. I met her owner on the elevator - loaning him a pair of reading glasses since he was on a search for a pair. We had a good laugh about his filly beating my boys earlier in the year. I then realized he had one running in the Juvenile race - and then later realized his "Too Much Bling" ended up winning the race wire to wire beating my boys AGAIN, just with a different horse. He was pretty awesome in his win so I won't take anything away from Bling that is for sure.

I am not sure but I think the distance may have been too much for Motega. There is another Yonaguska filly in Ohio that is really good as well but I think she was injured recently. Hopefully she'll come back as a 3 year old.

To be perfectly honest, it was kind of nice to have NAAB looking at Vader's rear end for once . It would have however been nicer had he placed - at least for my wallet! The good news is that both boys came out of the race safe and sound and will perhaps race one more time before taking the rest of the year off.

    Re: Young ohio

In Motega's defense, the last filly that went into the Galbreath undefeated and exit with 2nd money was Slides Choice, and she's proven herself to be a beast in our little regional fishbowl (and has become one of my personal favorites....). ^_^

Are you gonna try to squeeze another run in at Thistledown for your boys or are you gonna pack it in and head south? Really REALLY wish I coulda made it for the Best of Ohio to see them but I was dead to the world that day. x.x

    Re: Young ohio

Our boys may race one more time in Ohio but will then get a much deserved rest. As far south as we venture is KY . I'm not sure they are ready to take on anyone outside of our area just yet anyhow. Perhaps after a little more maturing we can begin to think about that, but ....

I am pleased to announce Calypso that Vader broke his maiden at Mountaineer this week going a mile in the slop . We now have that burden off our back !

Thanks! I really was beginning to think he was always going to be a groomsman and never the groom . Glad he finally won one.

Midnight Vader and Not An Altar Boy both have facebook pages now if you'd like to "like" them.

    Re: Young ohio

Wow i missed a lot, i haven't visited this site in forever, sadly i didn't get to see any of these horses race in person or from online. Congrats though and if there's any more horses to be aware of or to watch from anyone in ohio for this summer let me know! i haven't been to thistledown in forever, but it's been winter and i've been away at school. I loved reading all the posts from everyone on here i hope we can continue that. I'm ganna have to add those horses and more to my virtual stable on equibase so i can stay updated.
