From a gambling point, the 6 straight stake races will all have short priced favorites from 1/5 to 3/2. Not very attractive. But there will be opportunites for cashing horizontal wagers without having to go deep in any race.

The truth - at least two of the races have stellar fields...
The Vosburgh and Joe Hirsch...they may not have it numbers wise...but quality wise they are the best quality BC preps for their respective BC races in the country this year.
And while the Kelso field may not be large...it has a number of quality horses in it...

I have no idea what you expect, this will be one of the most accomplished assemblages of horseflesh on one day all year. If you're so down on the sport, why do you bother to pay it so much attention?

I don't get this. Why shouldn't B4 quote people, particulary with regard to an event of such importance to him? What about that makes him "self-important"?
They are not pathetic, just small. 2 races get an A, 2 races get a C-. It is terrible though for gambling purposes. A $500k guaranteed pick 4 that could pay something like $12. That is pathetic, but entirely possible.
Actually, it's impossible for the Pick-4 to pay that little. $25 is not impossible but not $12.
