    Re: Fleet Indian..

Already expressed my shock and sorrow at the Memorial topic, but will state it here, too. She was a lovely girl. Saw her at BC in 2006 where her life was spared in the Distaff and Pine Island lost hers. Dreadful day. Was so hoping that Fleet Indian would be with us for a long, long healthy life. I'm so sorry for all who loved her. How many more pieces of my heart can break off. Has it been a more than usual dreadful past few years for these dreadful equine losses, or is it because of the news arriving so fast via the internet?!

RIP - Fleet Indian. Romp happy with Pine Island.

gosh, this is yet another very painful loss. the thing i remember the most about her was how much her owners loved her. these horses are so fragile.

Oh dear. I saw her then-owner Paul Saylor, at the Keeneland sale after she broke down in the 06 Distaff. He clearly cared a great deal for her, and it sounds as though her current owners did as well. A nice mare, gone too soon.

Wow. Don't think I've ever seen that before. No question that she was well loved all her life.

Condolences to all who knew and loved her.

I remember seeing Saylor standing with Fleet Indian on the track at the distaff and how distraught he was.

He loved that horse. In July of this year, the Fleet Indian Scholarship was renamed the Oliva Saylor/Fleet Indian Scholarship to honor Saylor's young daughter who perished in a fire in January. So, so sad. My thoughts are with all of Fleet Indian's connections.

Oh my gosh. This breaks my heart. I LOVED this mare. Ever since I saw her win the Del Cap, I was in love. She was so big and gorgeous. I'm so saddened by this.

    Re: Fleet Indian..

I was fortunate to meet Fleet Indian and her filly in May of this year. I was quite taken with how sweet and engaging she was--and oh so patient!

She was a giant of a mare with a giant heart.
