I thought this was a nice article on Rosie.

On a racehorse, Rosie Napravnik shows she's something special

Eswan Flores, the 18yo apprentice jock who is doing well in SoCal, wants all his friends to know: "I am excited to tell you that I have COMPLETED HIGH SCHOOL, and will attend graduation in June! Thanks Miss Holt!" Miss Holt has been working hard with Eswan to help him navigate the treacherous waters of high-school math. :-) [I can sympathize -- I utterly loathed math.]

It's been a delight to follow Eswan the past little while as his tweets bounce between the joys and trials of being a jockey and the joys and trials of trying to get through high school.

    From Brisnet

Jockey Justin Shepard will miss the remainder of the Oaklawn meet, which ends April 14, after suffering a broken left shoulder and five broken ribs in a riding accident Thursday. Shepard was aboard El Oso (City Street) in the 5TH race when the horse was injured at top of the stretch. El Oso was euthanized with a compound fracture to his left ankle. Jockey Alex Birzer was also thrown when his mount, Dynamic Within (Dehere), fell trying to avoid the fallen horse, but both horse and rider escaped serious injury. Birzer continued to ride and won the featured eighth race aboard Stachys. According to his brother and fellow jockey, Dusty Shepard, Justin was still at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas, but was comfortable.

This is Joy Rose Murphy, newly crowned Mrs. Oklahoma. She is the wife of jockey Glen Murphy. And the great thing about this is that, according to the PDJF, her platform is to raise awareness for the PDJF. You go, lady!

Trainer Carl O'Callaghan (of Kinsale King fame) will be on the Ellen de Generes show tomorrow. It's an Irish thing, I suspect. ;-) Carl also sings, and is a great storyteller.
