Just as a side note, one of Serena's babies, Arbitrate also stands in Mexico. He has had some success down there, I get info in dribs and drabs. I'm hoping he has a buy back clause as well.

Uma-furusato.com (one of the official source) has given the details today.
(translation)
'' --------------------
Chichicastenango developed colic somewhere around the end of December last year.
On January 5th, he underwent abdominal surgery at the Shadai Horse Clinic (veterinary clinic) and severe constipation was found. He stayed at the clinic for a follow-up in the aftermath of the surgery and seemed to become convalescent. But his condition took a sudden turn for the worse on Jan 13th. He died in spite of intensive care at 6:30 p.m. local time on the same day.....
--------
We hope that his babies will do well.
May he rest in peace.''

Does the the person by the name of "Someone" know if he stood there last year before coming back here to race again in September after breeding season was over a couple months before that? After he bred about 100 mares? Did he stay in training down there in between jumping mares?
Beat Hollow(GB) has been sold to stand as a dual-purpose stallion at Ballylinch Stud in County Kilkenny.

Bankable, runner up in the 2010 Dubai Duty Free, died from severe complications of colic that had become inoperable after just one season at stud in South Africa. http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/new...loodstocknews/
Any Given Saturday sired his first winner in Australia recently. I'd forgotten he shuttled. http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/new...loodstocknews/

Ashford... aka as "chicken factory". They get "out on their product" the first year or so.
Did the same with GC the first yr in the US. His early progeny were...not what you'd expect from a stallion with his race record and pedigree. Almost ruined his stud career,IMO.
Between the chicken factory and Repole, UM will probably beif they continue to breed him like that. UM is a horse with a liver disease...no matter how they spin it.
In fairness to Coolmore, they're hardly the only one who allows books to reach that number when there's a ton of demand. Not that I'm defending them, but some of the other farms don't seem to get quite the forum beating for doing the same thing.

Night time turn out is in the summer for most stallions, you know, when they are Down Under in the winter?
Seriously, I think they exercise them at Ashford on a lunge line - but there ain't no time for turn out when you are breeding four times a day. Part of it is some stallions get so tired and sour later in the season with good grass, they don't want to be caught.
What Jas said is partly true, but Coolmore pioneered the Stallion ATM Machine.
