Perhaps after Perfect Shirl's upset of the BC Filly and Mare Turf today, Darby Dan may be regretting selling their flagship stallion (last advertised for 15K) to Canada...

Charles Fipke spent a lot trying to send the best mares to this stallion, in attempt to make him the "Galileo" of North America...and until today, the stallion was knocked because of his AEI/CI. A Breeders Cup win, however, can change a lot of things...

Was he sold or just relocated? I can't imagine Fipke giving up control over him.

I don't recall ever reading details, but I assumed he was just relocated. After all, Fipke breeds and races in Ontario, too, so it made sense. *shrug*

That's where PS belongs. They sent a ton of them to collect some wins out here - they all want to go about 2 miles.

I was thinking the same thing.....bet he doesn't come to NY now!!

    Re: Stallion news

I bet he does. As much as everyone says we need more stamina stallions, no one wants to breed to them, because theres so few opportunities to run them. Had Drosselmeyer been a brilliant 2 year old, he'd be on everyones stallion list, but he's pretty much a plodder type, and those just dont make good stallions. At least NY runs some distance races, so its a perfect fit for him.

    Re: Stallion news

Wonder how fast his book would fill in New York? Would definitely be the first time a Classic winner retires to New York. Bet he'd be one hot ticket, especially with his pedigree to back it up.

I love stamina stallions but not triple Northern Dancer with Mr. Prospector ones...

So, they should be looking for outcross mares with a lot of brilliance and turn of foot. They have their search cut out for them!

Kittens Joy is a 20k stallion at best. WAYYYY overpriced

    Re: Stallion news

Its hard to argue with success. He's the 7th leading sire nationally, with fewer starters than any horse in the top ten other than Empire Maker. 13 stakes winners this year, 18 stakes wins, 5 graded stakes winners, one being a grade 1. He's holding his own against stallions standing for way more than he is. Maybe he's not worth $50,000, but he's certainly earned his way to an increase.
