Wow, did not know that as well. Think about this:

Good Reward and Grand Reward- people are always mixing them up(or have in the past)
    Both are 2001 foals
Both are sired by Storm Cat
Both are out of outstanding races mares
    Both stood in Kentucky
Both shuttled to South America, and eventually, stay there.

I thought about that! And both are bay, even.

They love to export sons of Storm Cat once their foals start developing and the unsoundness trait rears its ugly head. Unless you're Giant's Causeway-esque and you can throw a big runner very quickly, they'll ship you so darn fast to S. America or to one of the Asian countries that it's not even funny. See Consolidator...

Maybe Tesio was right. A generation must be skipped because extremely good race mares rarely make extremely good stallions...that nervous energy needs a break to re-harness or recoup itself...(will Harlington follow suit? because they are sure buying his get..)

He was a very good turf runner who could stretch that miles speed out a long ways. If you believed Danzig could work with that blue hen Weekend Surprise, look no further than Magna Graduate at Darby Dan, whose progeny are selling...

Interestingly, has anyone had success with Honor Glide mares and Mr. P. line stallions?

Second that notion. Tale of the Cat has been able to inject that speed into his sons very well, and Gio's ability to stretch that miler speed should make him very popular with breeders.

Any thoughts on the same stallion through another conduit, Lion Heart and his son Line of David, whose career was cut short by injury?

The reports that I am hearing about Harlington is that his foals are very nice looking- Melynk has a bunch of them- would make sense because he owned/campained him durning his racing days. Most mares are also going back to him.

Grand Reward is being mated to very nice mares in Argentina- and does very with Southern Halo mares. His best runner there is now in the US(as reported previously) and I'm thinking will make a big splash here. I thought he would do better as a regional sire in Pa, did get more mares, but we will not see those runners for 2 years, so who knows. I know that in a few of the sales here this year- some are being bought by Argentina/South America interests. At one point, looked like there may have been some kind of deal for him to come back to the US, at least for the season in Florida- but apparently fell thru.

    ^^News to me!

Apparently, Winchester is not headed off to stud just yet. He was purchased by Australian connections for a tilt at the big races there. Looks like he'll eventually go to stud at Rosemont, though.

    @DRFOakford:

    (1) Spendthrift stallion Paddy O'Prado recovering from colic surgery, Lex farm says, but will miss rest of the breeding season.#paddyo'prado

    (2) Paddy O'Prado had surgery @ Hagyard late Fri. Dr. Michael Spirito corrected "simple twist of large colon," no resection.

    Get well soon, Paddy!

Edited to add: Spendthrift says he'd covered 142 mares through Friday.

Sounds like Paddy has been a pretty busy boy already this season - also sounds like everything will be OK, thankfully. Time for a little well deserved R&R for Paddy O'Prado!

oh, two whole races. let me go get my check book.

piph; no, my point was he was retired under poor credentials. bc juvy turf and did he do anything at 3? what was the rush? there are plenty of other first year stallions with a FAR better list of achievements.
