piph; no, my point was he was retired under poor credentials. bc juvy turf and did he do anything at 3? what was the rush? there are plenty of other first year stallions with a FAR better list of achievements.
Just curious? Do you understand that the goal of most who are fortunate enough to race a graded stakes winner, or BC winner, is to cash in on the now increased breeding value of the horse? His stud deal was done a month after the 2010 BC to stand in AU....so now that he is not physically able to race at high level this year, he has been retired for the upcoming SH season. It's not that complicated. Maybe you can write Barry Irwin and Vinery and tell them they should rescind the deal and you'd like them to give you Pluck as a riding horse?

The horse is by More Than Ready, very successful shuttle stallion who stands for Vinery, and he had a bad colic that required surgery six months ago. He was laid up at 3 due to bruised cannon bones and then just when ready to come back, he colicked.

Bet if you owned him that wouldn't be your stance. Some of what he would be breeding this late in season would be returns. I wonder who got the duty to fill in at ST for him. Since Warrior's Reward is EP line, I'm guessing he stepped up depending on the mare.

I'm feeling like sweettalk does not fully understand the love for More Than Ready Down Under. If shuttling were outlawed, I think he'd probably stay there, because as well as he's done in North America, he's a superstar in Australia.

I don't know what Pluck's popularity would be like with US breeders, but I imagine he'll be very well-received in Australia. His talent was obvious in the BC and there aren't a lot of MTR sons available. I believe Ready's Image is still shuttling there and there is the talented Sebring at Widden. But G1 winner Benicio is no longer at Vinery. Anyone know if he's still standing in Australia?

Also, they've priced Pluck very well at $11k.

no, i understand. they're ready to leave MTR there instead of shuttling him back, was what i heard from a vinery groom. just really surprised that this is seen as ok, but when our three year olds retire mid summer or after the BC everyone is outraged. this horse won a g3 and a BC win. sure he looked nice doing it, but i dont know how desperate youd have to be for MTR blood to go to an unproven son that barely ran.

if this enough for a stud resume, i say we set the TC for 2 yr olds and outlaw racing for horses older than 3. pluck is VERY proven, he's a graded stakes winner at two!

Horses have gone to stud with worse resumes than Pluck.

Not news, but I can't remember when I last saw an "informal" shot of this guy -- Sadler's Wells: Photo by Tony O'Meara.

Hard to believe he's 31. Where does the time go?!?

Oh, dear. My memory has turned totally sieve-like. Thanks. I still like the photo, though.

Scat Daddy's 2013 stud fee won't be set for five or six months. Even Coolmore doesn't know what it will be yet.
