    Taste of Paradise Sires First Winner

    Grade I winner Taste of Paradise was represented by his first winner when his son Justamatteroftime scored by 7 1/4 lengths Sept. 9 at Presque Isle Downs. Campaigned by June Riley and Vernon Marcum, Justamatteroftime won the mile race in 1:40.37.

    Jesters Jazz first winner for freshman sire Mr. Jester

    Jesters Jazz closed from ninth in a 12-horse field, took the lead in the final furlong, and won her debut by a length under Tyler Pizarro on Saturday at Woodbine to become the first career winner for freshman sire Mr. Jester.

    Graded stakes winner Lydgate sired his first winner when his son Bon Ami Pete won Sept. 24 at Retama Park in his initial start. The colt won the five-furlong race by 4 3/4 lengths in :58.85. He races for breeder/trainer Shawn Davis in partnership with John J. Smith.

    A Louisiana-bred out of the Hey Rob mare Holly D,, Bon Ami Pete is a half-brother to unbeaten multiple stakes winner Handsomchamp.

    Lydgate (Pulpit?Mariuka, by Danzig) stands at Jay Adcock?s Red River Farms near Coushatta, La. His 2009 fee was $2,000.

    Saucy Sorceress first winner for Source

    Saucy Sorceress controlled the pace in her second career start and powered to a 4 1/4-length victory under Adrian Ramos in the ninth race on Tuesday at The Downs at Albuquerque to become the first winner for New Mexico-based sire Source.

    Trained by Eric Mikkelson for owners Chris Hourigan and Denise Nichols, the chestnut filly completed five furlongs in :59.65 on a track rated as fast. Bred in New Mexico by Tina and Chris Hourigan, Saucy Sorceress is out of the winning River Special mare Apache Peak.

    An 11-year-old by Montbrook out of the winning Damascus mare Stem, Source stood the 2009 breeding season for $2,000 at Hourigan Horse Farm in Anthony, New Mexico. A half brother to two stakes winners and from the family of graded stakes winner and sire Great Above, Source has seven two-year-olds in his first crop.

    The third-place finisher in the 2003 KLAQ Handicap at Sunland Park, Source won 12 of 61 career starts and earned $368,125 in six seasons.

    Congresionalaffair first winner for Congressionalhonor

    Schelford North?s Congresionalaffair made a late rally in the final sixteenth of a mile to win the second race at Laurel Park on Wednesday and become the first career winner for freshman sire Congressionalhonor.

    The two-year-old gray or roan filly, trained by Edmond Gaudet, covered the 5?-furlong maiden claiming race in 1:06.54 on a track rated fast. She is one of two winners from as many starters out of the winning Sultry Song mare Sultry Rendevous.

    Congressionalhonor, who will stand the 2010 season for $3,000 at Northview Stallion Station in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, won the 2004 Bay Meadows Derby (G3) and amassed $112,413 in earnings in two seasons on the track.

    The eight-year-old by Forestry out of the Quiet American mare Quiet Dance has 40 two-year-olds in his first crop.

    I don't know if he's had any in the Northern Hemisphere, but Storming Home had his first winner in NZ today. And it was his first runner. And it was a stakes race!

    Catch Siesta first winner for freshman sire Sequoia Grove

    Catch Siesta challenged for the lead with a three-wide move on the turn and then surged to a 1?-length victory under Diego Saenz in the tenth race at Delta Downs on Wednesday and became the first winner for freshman sire Sequoia Grove.

    Bred, owned, and trained by Ray Shumake, Catch Siesta covered 6? furlongs on a sealed muddy track in 1:23.67. The chestnut gelding is one of two winners from three starters out of the placed Bob?s Ticket mare Bebop Miss.

    Sequoia Grove will stand the 2010 season for $1,000 at Shumake Farm in DeKalb, Texas. The seven-year-old Storm Cat horse out of 1994 Golden Rod Stakes (G3) winner Lilly Capote, by Capote, has seven two-year-olds in his first crop.

    Sequoia Grove is a half brother to Grade 2-placed winners Flying Pegasus and Mythical Pegasus as well as stakes-placed winner and sire America?s Storm.

    Susan Magnier and Jane Rowlinson's High Award (Ire) wins the opening race of the 2010 Irish Flat season to provide his freshman sire Holy Roman Emperor (Ire) with a flying start. Out of the 1998 G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Tarascon (Ire) (Tirol {Ire}), the Tommy Stack-trained 9-2 shot raced freely without cover behind the leading trio before leading with 100 yards remaining and besting Suntan (Ire) (Bachelor Duke) by 3/4 of a length.
