Here's a head shot I got of her after she won the Breeder's Cup Distaff last year.

Coming out of the turn in the 2008 BC Distaff. Zenyatta is on the outside (of course).

All three photos are gorgeous, and show different facets of Zen.
But Joanne, as someone who loves jigsaw puzzles, I wish wish wish the photo of Zenyatta coming off the turn could be made into a jigsaw puzzle...

Stunning. The hindquarters on that gal---wow!
Here's a shot that's a little different. She was schooling. I don't like the way the halter is sitting on her head, but I like her alertness.
That's nice Lydia.

You can say that again! http://www.flickr.com/photos/alydar_1978/3795862483/
I had the pleasure of meeting her this morning. She is VERY self aware; she knows who she is and we all better know it too!She grazed and even tried to chew a palm tree while she pretended like she wasn't worried the cameras may, for a few seconds, not be on her. Big loveable ham! Had a thing for sticking her muzzle in my face...
Zenyatta just loved to be loved and rested her T-Rex head against my front while I petted her forehead and told her how pretty she is. No pics of that unfortunatelyBut (aside from crappy scanner quality), enjoy! Very proud of the 2nd shot. And how obvious is it from my expression that I'm in love?
Awww how lucky was that!

Everyone back there was VERY accomodating. No one was breathing down my neck, no one was paranoid about her being loved on by a stranger. Mr Shireffs and her groom and Michelle (anyone know who she is? Assistant trainer? Rider?) were all very kind. See, I wrote to Mr Shireffs via Del Mar itself, left my number... and he called me to tell me he was happy to let me stop by :O I'm still not sure it actually happened, lol.
how lucky are you!!
She makes everyone look like a midget it seems!I would love to be able to just stand next to her!
From what I've seen, from your commentary, these photos and the interview on ESPN with Shireffs, she's so much like my spoiled long-haired cat it's incredible. She has that same enormous sense of self-worth, and seems to know exactly how much appreciation she gets. I think you nailed it when you said she was self-aware. And she's aware of her public, too.
