MCCARREN PARK (Posse x History, by CQ) made it 2 in a row, winning an AOC at Aqueduct today by 3 and 1/2 lengths.![]()
Spicer was third at Tampa.
" I reject you reality, and substitute my own! " Mythbusters
"Sometimes, I think he's the King of Stupid" - Old Man "Pawn Stars"
"Oh, what fresh hell is this?!" - Sheldon Cooper- "Big Bang Theory"
^ That is a wonderful picture of him...it really captures how spirited he was.
Even after all this time, sometimes I still can't believe he's gone.![]()
I know several people who have Gottcha Golds in training, and really like them.
^ I'm glad to hear that.I can't wait to see how they do next year.
Speaking of CQ sons, Awesome Gambler had two more winners, bringing his total to five (SW Willa B Awesome, G3 placed River Kiss, Daylight Magic, Pop the Cork and Foxy Lady Packin') from fifteen starters. Not bad. He'll end the year as the top freshmen sire in California.
Willa B Awesome ('09 f. Awesome Gambler x Cause I'm Tricky by Nineeleven) improved her record to 9-2-3-2 with $173,896 in earnings yesterday due to finishing second in the California Breeders Champion Stakes. It was her 6th stakes placing (8-1-3-2).
Coronado Heights ('08 g. Pulpit x Coronado Rose) broke his maiden in his debut at Aqueduct. I'm glad he won, his dam is one of my favorite CQ foals. I think I've said this before, but I even considered CoronadoRose as my username here before I settled on Allspice. I actually do use CoronadoRose (or OberonsGirl) if Allspice is taken. I use it on Steam and Origin.
A couple pictures of him from when he was a yearling:

Unbridled Fury ('07 g. Broken Vow x Val Marie), Grand Adventure's baby brother, dead heated in a claiming race at Turf Paradise.
Speaking of Grand Adventure, does anyone know if he's going to race another year or is going to go to stud somewhere or...? I haven't heard anything since the Breeder's Cup.
Spicer was 2nd (dead-heat) and was claimed.
Willa B Awesome ('09 f. Awesome Gambler x Cause I'm Tricky by Nineeleven) became her sire's first graded stakes winner with an emphatic 3 1/2 length score in the Santa Ysabel (G3) at Santa Anita! Atta girl!

Multiple stakes winner Little Ms Protocol ('09 f. El Corredor x Character Builder) won the Premier Night Starlet Stakes at Delta Downs.
Glorietta Bay ('09 f. AP Indy x Miss Coronado) finished 3rd in her debut at Gulfstream.
^ So did I. <3 I need to get around to reading the new releases of the manga. I have the first two volumes of it.
Gr. 3 winner Mendip ('07 c. Harlan's Holiday x Well Spring) snagged the Gr. 2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round Two by a length and a quarter! I wonder what the plan for him this year is.
BTW, I can't wait to see for sure who the sire of his half sibling this year is. His dam was bred to both Indian Charlie and AP Indy, so either way it's pretty awesome.![]()
Another MSW winner out of a daughter of Coronado's Quest. SILENT FRIGHT by Yes It's True x Val Marie broke her maiden in the 6th race at GP this afternoon.
Hi, a filly that is very special to me is a granddaughter of Coronado's Quest. Her name is Miss Fifty. She has the same coloring and spirit as her sire and is very, very dear to my heart. Please read her story here: http://pastthegrandstand.blogspot.co...iss-fifty.html
Very good news! I was hoping Silent Fright would break her maiden, she ran really well in her last race. Seems like dirt is more her forte, she didn't do very well in Europe.
EDIT: I just watched the race. She looks very good, she was basically hand ridden to the wire.
You gotta love broodmares like her dam. Val Marie is the dam of five foals of racing age (one of them a 2yo of this year) and three of them are winners (Grand Adventure, Unbridled Fury and now Silent Fright) and one being a multiple graded stakes winner (Grand Adventure).
That's a wonderful story, thank you for sharing it.Miss Fifty sounds like a sweetheart. I think I've mentioned her a few times in this thread, but I don't remember when. I'm sure I would have when she broke her maiden.
BTW, welcome to the forums. ::waves::
