As as aside, I think I remember Vivan's daughter died in a riding accident early this year. I believe she was in Germany at the time.

That was Vivi's older sister, Debby (who was also in the book briefly.) She was married to German riding star Hans Gunter Winkler.

TBird, I'm pretty sure that was Vivian's daughter. Or, is the Vivi you're referring to another daughter of Vivian's? I've only ever had contact with Vivian, never any of her daughters, and I'm not familiar with the book. I think they owned Bergdorf Goodman's.

Vivi was the little girl in the book (and Edition Farm's Vivien Malloy's daughter.) Debby was Vivi's sister.

I can't believe you don't know the book. I think you need to go check it out of the library.
