Looking at Lucky Draws Rail in Haskell!

Baffert not happy. He was really incredulous in the press conference.

    1- LAL 5-2
    2- Afleet Again 12-1
    3- Ice Box 9-2
    4- First Dude 6-1
    5- Our Dark Knight 15-1
    6- Super Saver 3-1
    7- UCB 15-1
    8- Trappe Shot 3-1

I for one, cannot wait to see lal's offsprings name.

    It's spelled "Uptowncharlybrown"

A rail draw for Lucky in an 8 horse field wouldn't concern me so much. He should be able to find a good spot. I would be more concerned about his fitness here. Trappe Shot has some advantages.

since you drew 'first blood' here, it's also "Lookin At Lucky"

This race is better than the Derby. We get rid of all the horses with no shot and get the big three in Super Saver, Lucky, and Icebox. Trappe Shot and First Dude make this race really interesting though and I think Our Dark Knight and Uptowncharleybrown are live. Even Afleet Again has some talent. This race is as competitive as it gets.

#4 First Dude should blow out the gate first, huh?

Gotta cheer for that fella. Come on, First Dude, show us how it's won from gate to wire this time!

I'm still not used to this damn forum.

My laugh of the day was in response to Songofthesword's rumination on Lookin' at Lucky's first offspring's name.

Agree that the PP is not a factor to him here. Not ideal, but not an excuse. The nice part in this race is there is no one horse that can be race rode by the other jocks, either.
I wouldn't worry about a horse's fitness that is working like he is, fast and often, trained by Bob Baffert. And Lucky was pretty fit to begin with and is not a big heavy horse that needs time to get fit. I see the 3 weeks back as a detriment to TS against this deep bunch OTOH, especially because he hasn't ever really been tested.

I feel bad for Lucky, he might really hate it in there, and it does force their hand a bit to hope for a good break. I think he'll be ok. It is not like he is going to run into the rail like it works at CD in a 20 horse field...

    it's only an 8 horse field...the 1 spot isn't so bad.

At least the two horses next to him (2,3) are closing types that will drop back and save ground, so he should have some room to gain position by the first turn.

Trappe Shot 3-1 in the ML. I don't think he will win but maybe he is a superstar. I honestly see him as the only real threat to Quality Road in the HOY picture.

Shouldn't be, but Baffert sounded like he would have taken any of the other 7 positions.

That is usually a sign that he will scratch, where is Gogo that day? At the Spa? He should be on UTCB...imo.
Baffert's dismay worries me more than the actual draw, and I thought what MP did that at least it is not speed to his immediate outside, although sometimes that is better because they could clear him and he could get outside them.
